Looks like there’s another little blob of nastiness behind the line in Southern Jersey moving up northeast.

lol just got real quiet…I don’t like it.

Wow, okay, house just shook. Southwest wind, impressive. Could hear the roar before it.

I am dumbfounded at how useless the Weather Channel is right now. I know, I know…but they are not covering Delaware to NY at all.

For some reason I put on the Weather Channel. Man, they have people in all the wrong places.

Nassau County is catching that whole line. Yikes.

Are you ready. About 30 mins to go.
lol, want to sleep, but…I don’t think so, want to see this. Looks like we’re catching the southern part of that squall.

Lol, just got home. Sounds like a train coming down my street. Ain’t putting the recycling out tonight. Even with bricks on top of the cans, I don’t trust them to not end up all over the street.

Squall line looks like a literal snake. Wow. -
Can’t really tell the wind being on the train but the rain is really ripping in the Rockville Centre area. Absolutely pouring.

With the system’s backend already clearing DC, any chance this system and the worst of the gusts maybe end a little earlier in the AM than forecasted?
Not looking forward to driving in about 45 minutes.

Winds from the southeast already picking up a bit when I left earlier for work, just as forecasted. Secured anything I could. I’m still kinda flabbergasted a storm like this hits us early-to-mid January but this is becoming the new normal around here. Im thinking these 65-70mph gusts will materialize around me later.
Good luck, everyone.

Isaias was the push for me to make an account on this board after years and years of lurking. I did not lose power, somehow, here but there was definite damage in my neighborhood and I was working at Huntington train station at the time and the LIRR didn’t have power until like midnight. That doesn’t happen often.
@WestBabylonWeather I’m pretty sure you’re not far from me looking at your pics. I’m just west of Belmont.

Text from PSEG…I wonder who they are talking to to get this info.
FYI…I’m in Suffolk county
PSEGLI: Heavy rain and wind gusts up to 75 mph possible Tuesday into Wednesday. We're ready. Report an outage: reply OUT or use our free app: bit.ly/PSEGLIapp
.lol, yep. Got the same exact txt. Saw 75mph and was like wtf
Could go to Mt. Washington…100-110 sustained with 140mph gusts on Wednesday night.

I'm worried about power outages
I was aware that the wind is going to be strong, just no specifics on exactly how strong.
There is a big difference here between 50 mph, 60 mph and 70 mph.
At 50 mph we are usually fine, at 60 mph we start having problems with power, at 70 mph there are tree limbs flying around and I'm worried about my windows
From what I’ve read here and seen other places, I’m expecting 60mph-plus gusts, 30-40 sustained by nighttime. Definitely expecting a HWW. NWS is only listing winds up to Tuesday afternoon.
I’m not looking forward to it.

No one has mentioned wind speeds anywhere, how fast could these winds get?
are we talking about hurricane speeds in wind gusts?
I don’t know about hurricane gusts, but @wdrag has mentioned damaging winds as part of Tuesday’s storm for days now. I’ve been telling anyone who’ll listen to me (here on LI at least) that Tuesday night is the storm to be concerned about, not yesterday.

Thank you for all the useful info, especially @wdrag
This thread is hitting 50 pages before Saturday, lol, can just feel it.

Didn’t see anything about wind in the forecast and we got gusts around 40mph earlier and we’re pushing 30-35 now. Garbage day around here, there’s shit all over my street. I guess NWS doesn’t think 40mph gusts should be noted in the forecast or this was just not expected? Oh yeah, still pissing rain. Lots of big, cold, drops.

I’m on the train so I can’t tell for certain with the wind, doesn’t seem too windy looking at the trees, but it’s absolutely pouring in the Massapequa area again.
-
Went outside to find and pick shit up and, granted, the siding on the east facing side of my garage is old, but a pretty significant amount of it blew off.

54 at FRG nothing to sneeze at. But in the winter, we can handle it with no leaves on trees.
tbat being said lots of trees down in commack messing up the bus routes
Port Wash branch of LIRR partially suspended due to fallen trees. I’d call that fairly significant, especially given the time of year.
