Yes, even a Cat 1 might be too much, do you remember when we had that high end tropical storm that moved to our west a few years ago? My house was shaking with 80 mph wind gusts.
Isaias. Yeah was pretty gusty. Had to drive from south shore to north shore about 4pm and saw plenty of damage. Power at Huntington LIRR was out.

No, I just want to know what it would be like, I've had enough of hurricanes after going through Sandy.
I’m hoping it never happens, one of the biggest things I worry about on this island. Cat 3 or worse would be catastrophic for us.

Oh this is wonderful, I want to see this even more than having a Cat 3 making landfall near JFK!
I already got the 30 inch snowstorm so that's off my bucket list....
Is that a 107 near JFK?
Wait, you live in Oceanside and you WANT a cat 3 to hit like 10-15 miles west of where you live??

Looks like Western Suffolk to Middle Island about to get some serious rain in the next hour. West and east of that…not so much. Amazing how much the sky has changed in my train ride west.

Before our bonanza period 2000-2018, starving for this kind of moderate storm was the norm.
I remember feeling like there’d be snow on the ground from around Christmas to early March every year. The last couple of years have definitely been a huge disappointment in terms of snow.
-
We’ve gone from getting at least one snow storm a cold month, in the past, to, understandably, frothing at the mouth for a 6-inch event, lol
-
lol, can’t make a joke anymore?

Isn’t the one bit of rain there right over @Rjay’s area? Must be the penance for starting this thread

Don’t worry, people. We have to drive from Hartford back to Long Island on Sunday, mid-morning/afternoon.
This is gonna be the one.

Have some minor damage here on the coast of barnegat bay. Was no joke. About 90 seconds of heavy dime/nickle size stones.
No wind, but yeah, about the same size hail here. I heard it against my house and then opened up my front door (I just got home about 15min ago) and could actually see it, which is a first for me.
Can’t get snow on NYE, but hail? Yeah, sure lol

Hailing. In West Babylon. Like, legit hail.
LOL, how did the NWS not even issue a warning for this? Especially considering the time of year.

There wasn’t a severe warning for any of the area, no? Train ride all the way from Jamaica to Rockville Centre has been a deluge.
worst of it looks to still be off the coast heading right for the Queens/Nassau.

Just saw the sickest lightning bolt to the south of me on the train just east of Jamaica station. Wow.

Windier today than yesterday!
Went to a funeral service and the church shook a few times. Couldn’t believe it. Definitely gustier today.

Absolutely pouring near Rosedale/St. Albans, Queens.

I don’t know how many of you are familiar with the trails that go from Belmont Park in North Babylon down to Argyle and the GSB in Babylon but they are (unsurprisingly) bone dry. Ive been doing the bike now on the trails because I’m saving my pulled groin for men’s league footie games and the dirt is almost coarse sand at this point. Those trails are (imo) usually damp and slightly muddy even on days with no precip and this past week I had to be real careful not to wipeout on the sandy twist-and-turns.
-
lol. Looking at the 2-week GFS, there’s like a forcefield around our area in regards to precipitation. Anything that gets close just…falls apart.
-
Still haven’t put the heat on yet. I worked overnight and the car said 44 degrees at 6:15 this morning. House was down to 65. Looks like mid-50s tonight and a brief warmup should keep the heat off until next week where with daytime highs in the upper 50s should precipitate the heat finally coming on.

Wife sent me this pic from our backyard in W. Babylon. I’m stuck at work in Queens, went out to the roof about 8pm and saw nothing.-

That was interesting weather to play soccer in. Muggy as hell, wet as hell, sweaty as hell. Fun to play, uncomfortable as hell.
