  1. As promised. While ten full days left in the month makes for a tough estimate, MJS got to punching on his best Texas Instruments calculator and came up with the following..... Current mean monthly temp is 74.8. I calculated the final ten days as 73.6, bringing the final average monthly temp to 74.4 -- good for the solo spot of 54th warmest all-time. This would be about a degree BN when compared against the recent climate normal period but about a half degree AN when compared against the entire POR. Book it. Side note, MJS is declaring the 1927 record of 67.7 as untouchable as Cy Young's. Good day.
  2. Low of 53. Just too many clouds too late into the night here to drop as far as we could have, which was a bit surprising. Should be able to sneak in a much needed mow today.
  3. Speak of the devil, Sinks was beat out by Mackay, ID for the national low, who checked in at a cool 30. Although given your Garrett reference, it sounds like we may have had some unofficial stations here in the east that matched or exceeded that. Very impressive.
  4. Impressed by all the 40s being reported. I could only get down to 51 at KMJS. Tonight has the potential to surprise and go even lower than forecast. Glorious weather all the way around.
  5. I was just getting ready to make a joke about how I can't wait for a bunch of us to hit 40s tonight while MDT checks in with something like a 58, but then I see it came in with a low of 59 last night so who knows, maybe it will surprise again.
  6. Low of 57 and .04” from a couple of rounds of very brief showers yesterday.
  7. Completely agree about Costco and Kirkland being better; it's just the distance factor, as you mentioned, and how busy the place gets (to say nothing of the parking situation ha) that keep me away. BJ's was simply a decision borne out of convenience. Side note, LNS got 2.21" yesterday. Yahtzee.
  8. Any insight on BJ's gas? We got a membership there a year ago because we live so close and use it primarily for the gas and non-perishable products.
  9. Me too. We were out of the house at some wedding festivities and I was surprised to see only a third of an inch in the gauge when I got home. However, I was aware of the fact that I had kind of just barely snuck in on some of those late day potent lines. Looks like another mediocre chance today and then a prolonged dry period.
  10. Low of 66 with .33” of rainfall. Much more just to my north and east.
  11. Low of 69 with .08” of total rainfall. Regardless of what happens with the storms today, it looks like an awesome week ahead.
  12. Pending tomorrow’s outcome, this could be quite the forecast bust. But as Bubbler mentioned, it was always going to be kind of a scattered convection type day so no guarantees. Still, I don’t think any of us thought the radar would be as paltry as it was today.
  13. I saw that during one of my many glances of RadarScope this morning and thought you might be getting hit pretty good.
  14. Round one looks to be in the books here and I’m a little under a tenth of an inch.
  15. Appreciate that. I think I’ll do some number crunching sometime this week.
  16. Low of 61. Taking the kids to a Barnstormers game tonight. Should be another ‘beaut.
  17. We were supposed to go to Seward as well while we were out there but the wildfire smoke canceled our day cruise. Yeah we found Anchorage very underwhelming. Some of my buddies who've been there many times joke that it's just a larger Altoona haha. But the rest of Alaska, my goodness. Breathtaking beauty on an almost unimaginable level, and the vastness/remoteness is hard to comprehend. It truly is the last frontier.
  18. Haha believe it or not there are no chain restaurants of any type in Bethel, which is a big part of the reason my buddy opened up a place there. The big boys don't want to be bothered with it, given that you can only get there by air or sea and keeping stuff stocked can be a pain. UnCommon Pizza is the name, check it out. The original UnCommon opened up in 2007 in Lititz, PA and is still going strong. Well, the only reason I mention Girdwood is because I was taken to some sort of hippie forest festival there one time haha, and also they have the Alyeska ski resort there. But Whittier, with the one-way railroad tunnel in and out, is a unique little place with some killer views.
  19. Drive up to Talkeetna sometime and take the scenic route through Hatcher Pass, glorious. Girdwood and Whittier are cool too. My buddy owns a restaurant in Bethel, AK; now THAT's a place I guarantee none of you have been haha.
  20. Side note, I thought for sure you were going to ask me what the hell Oyster Point was haha.
  21. Looks like some smoke in the upper atmosphere, shows up well on the visible satellite and HRRR has it modeled over our area...... http://www.meteo.psu.edu/ewall/PSUGOES_PA2/IMGv_0.jpg
