Not to be argumentative, but it actually looked to me like this had an opportunity to be a WHOLE lot better. The low was only about 1004mb off the east coast. It hadn't really bombed out on this run until it was gone.

Edit: It definitely went nuclear after that!

You're not wrong.  I thought the same while viewing.  There was potential for more but I guess that's a good thing??  And yes, it did bomb out pretty good once it gained some latitude, as we so often see.  Bottom line, big east coast snowstorm is in the pipeline and that alone is worth some measured excitement.

Temps are at or above freezing so roads should be ok.  Just checked as I may need to be out.

Yeah roads should remain fine tomorrow with the midday arrival.  The one caveat being that it could really thump in certain spots, as has been depicted by some models, and as we know rates can always overcome.  However, those would likely be brief bursts and things would clear up quickly again.  Mainly a grass event and then we watch in melt.  Such a shame we couldn't flatten things out and keep those temps from spiking just a little bit more on Sunday.  With that cold coming it would have been nice to keep a layer down.

  3. I'm thinking an inch from the front-end dump down this way tomorrow, two if we're lucky.  Then a period of freezing rain before it all gets washed away Saturday night into Sunday.  Could be fun for a few hours around lunch tomorrow.  Then comes the cold for a few days starting Monday, with all eyes on the midweek coastal.  12z looms....

speaking of hockey, my daughter took me down to see the Caps on Sunday. I don't drink often any more but we were on a father / daughter excursion so we went to get drinks (yall know they sell liquor there?) anyhow i ordered her a beer and me a Jim Beam and Tonic. The bar keep said you want a double...........well since you ask, sure. He rings me up and say $64. i damn near swallowed my gum

I’ve seen some insane prices at all types of venues but THAT might take the cake. I’m struggling to do the math on how they charged you that much for two drinks. It’s criminal what these places charge for stuff. Absurd.

How is the ice pack on the river?  That may be key too.

For sure.  I made it a point to look when we went by MDT on the train on Tuesday and it was still very solid.  There are a few open areas starting to appear but overall still a very nice frozen look.

the point I always try to make is how bad the models are. yesterday the temp for sunday was forecasted to be in the upper 30s now the same day in the mid 50s? in the span of one day it changes that much? this is where my negativity and frustration comes into play. Ive never attacked any one on here either so if you feel that way im sorry I didnt mean for that. I simply hate the fact these models are so bad in the year 2025 and they are not getting any better. They felt way more accurate when I was a kid.

I probably shouldn’t be responding to this at all haha, but if you think the models were better when you were a kid you’re a complete idiot. A next level moron, and I hate to be mean. But c’mon guy.

On a completely different note, Pivotal will be changing its website layout soon. They let paying customers check it out and comment. We'll, I think it sux and I told them I hate it and will be canceling. They said they've had mostly positive comments. I don't buy it. My retirement money website changes their site every few years and I  swear it's always worse. These places need to get the website designers out and just keep a few to maintain the site. I had the same website from 2009-2022 and I  got similar numbers with hits and calls the entire 13 years. Anyway, if you like the looks of Pivotal, don't get used to it.

Oh no.  Pivotal is damn near perfect to me.  I can't fathom changing it.  I cringe to think what it will look like.  Thanks for the heads-up.

Checking in over lunch & it is steady moderate snow a few miles north of Harrisburg!

Weak radar indeed, can someone explain what may be happening?

Low clouds is the best bet, beam overshooting.  Small flake size can hinder a bit too but that doesn’t seem to be the case here.

You are doing anything and everything to get wrestling into posts today!  LOL.   The Undertaker.  LOL

Bahahahaha not THAT wrestling.  I mean, I assume the guy was the son of an undertaker??  I also remember he lived at elevation, something like 900-1000' up on Blue Mountain.  Cmon, you guys are the stewards of all-things weather message board.  You are THE people to tackle this conundrum.  Someone has to know of this guy or the board I'm talking about!  Think deeply gentlemen!

These are massive snowflakes falling right now.

You aren't kidding.  I was outside walking around for lunch and couldn't believe it was still snowing, let alone at that intensity (a steady light snow).  In fact, it's still snowing.  This is amazing.  Never saw this coming in terms of duration.  Now as for accumulation, that's another story ha.

  10. I just wanted to add that I have no earthly idea what any of you are talking about with regard to the history of this board haha.  However, maybe 10-15 years ago I did lurk on a couple of other weather boards, which sadly I cannot remember the names of.  One in particular was geared towards central PA and had a few loyal posters, one of whom I remember because he was like the top dog and went by the handle UndertakersSon.  The board called him UTS.  Does this ring a bell to anyone??  Just start naming some old PA weather boards and maybe one will ring a bell for me.  If not, I will crawl back into my hole and speak of none of this ever again ha.
