  1. big forecast bust so far today. beautiful day, mostly sunny 70F DP 58F
  2. That storm looked a lot more menacing on radar than in real life here in Philly. just a few rumbles on thunder and a few hundredths of an inch of rain
  3. Should be right in the thick of a severe cell now but the sky lightened up, the wind totally died, and it’s just drizzling. Kind of eerie. Very tropical looking rain so far, tiny drops coming down in waves
  4. another case where strong storms are possible in the evening but we get some rain early in the day. wonder if we fail the same way as we have earlier this summer, with too much going on and not enough instability left by the time the storms are expected
  5. DPs are still nasty this morning, hanging in the low-mid 70s. should get some relief this evening and tomorrow
  6. Yesterday was as nice a day as you could ask for in July, high was 80F and dew points stayed in the 50s. Feels a little warmer/stickier today but still nice. Low 60s in the mornings have been awesome
  7. Happy to miss the severe so far, any risk of the smoke sticking around if the rain busts though?
  8. AQI is much lower than 2023 but the news said this was the first code purple since 2008, confusing. Even still, AQI of 265 imby is grounds for staying inside all day
  9. Quite a storm in Philly today. Saw some reports of a possible tornado in West Philly and wouldn't be shocked based on the damage I saw driving through West Fairmount Park. Severe tree damage, power was out and several spots were under a foot of water
  10. Reverse jinx worked, been under a training storm for the last 40 minutes that wasn't even on the radar when I posted an hour ago. Pushing 2" total now
  11. Only about 0.95” here last night, missed the first storm and the second never really got especially heavy. still early but I’m having a little trouble seeing how the 3-4” forecasts would verify
  12. No rain here but the front cooled us off a bit. Much better out this morning than last, got down to 76 and now I’m at 80 with dew point 70. Yesterday at this time it was already 87
  13. Sorry the Lehigh Valley missed out but that was a hell of a storm in NW Philly. 1.9” and 2 full hours of lightning. And now it’s a refreshing 68, dew point down to 52
  14. well we actually got a passing shower in NW Philly (and a few serious wind gusts), which I believe technically brings us to 9 consecutive days with rain, although today's was not measurable
  15. 2.6” since Wednesday. Maybe another quarter inch tomorrow. Looks lush out there
  16. got about 0.40" here yesterday, the sky never really opened up like it threatened to... until today, as we have had a couple legitimate downpours in the last hour or two. steady rain now, approaching 1.00" over the last 24 hours
  17. I'm not saying that it accumulated but we were under a squall that was frozen precip, bouncing off the cars, much too small/atmospherically stable for hail. so yes, it was sleeting heavily and I don't think that's all that historic
  18. Rain has arrived well ahead of schedule in Philly, which might diminish the severe threat since I don't expect to see much more sun or make a run at 80 given the radar
  19. Winter holding on for dear life. Still haven’t made it out of the 40s this week…maybe this evening
  20. Dec 14: 6" Dec 23: 0.3" Dec 26: 0.5" Jan 1: 0.5" Jan 17: 0.8" Jan 18: 3.5" Jan 25: 10" Feb 15: 0.1" Feb 22-23: 17" Total 38.7" for the season, by far the most I've recorded in my current spot but got ~4 ft in Conshy in 2020-21
  21. I actually think 20" in Philly will be about right, at least if measured properly (clearing snow board every couple hours). but on the ground total will probably be more like 14 or 15"
  22. Basically a perfect storm here: 1) started as rain to wash away any annoying salt 2) wet snow stuck on all the trees 3) winds were light so not many trees/branches down 4) roads are already rapidly improving, 32F with sun peeking through still light snow here, final total will probably be around 18" but hard to be totally certain because there was lots of compaction
  23. NW Philly 12.5" but the places where I cleared 6-7 inches last night have over 10 so technically more like 17" without compaction. I imagine Center City got more based on radar
