    the melting of last weekend's snow is well underway in Philly, but if we can make it through this afternoon we should lock in 2+ weeks of snow cover

    I'm conflicted because warm noses are always under-modeled but the NAM is always over-amped. at this point I'll just forget watching individual models and roll with the NWS forecast. sign me up for 13.5" lol

    Not to be overly optimistic but I think some of the guesses above are too pessimistic. NWS may well adjust downwards but they also know and adjust for our area in their forecast which a global model obviously doesn't. I still think this is a widespread 10-12"+ before sleet becomes too much of an issue. I don't think 12-16" total is unreasonable given the surface temps and duration

    Maybe somewhat relevant to the weekend storm—today’s cold was not as brutal as forecast. Got up to 24 here and it looks like we might not make it to single digits tonight, and the wind chill never felt that bad, probably around 5F at worst. Forecast temps for the weekend and beyond have moderated a bit as well

    Apple weather app says next expected precip is 20” of snow Sunday lol never seen that before

    Just under 2” in Medford, I’m guessing around 3” back home based on pictures and other reports

    Turned from graupel to snow and it’s sticking for real now, all surfaces covered and pushing maybe half an inch in colder spots

    Temps in Philly are a little too warm for much stickage. Looks like all frozen precip but it’s melting faster than it can accumulate for the most part. Hope we can get a couple inches tomorrow

    Moderate dippin dots in nw Philly. Never seen the driveway covered before the deck but that’s the case right now

    long way away but the globals all seem to like Jan 24-28 for a few chances at a significant snowstorm

    If I’ve learned anything about this type of storm it’s that the warm nose is always stronger/faster than progged. Maybe 1/4” of snow then sleet sleet sleet and some glaze is my forecast for Philly. Maybe an inch total. Best of luck to all

    The cold really caught me off guard this morning after it was pretty pleasant yesterday afternoon. Wind chill of 12 on a cloudy day is pretty brutal. Also on the topic of recent winter snowfall performances, 2020-2021 was well above average for a lot of people in this thread. I lived in Conshy at the time and we had 4' but I think the cutoff was pretty sharp from NW to SE

    Thanks for asking, it went well! There was some light rain during the ceremony but we had enough umbrellas to go around and since we didn’t care everyone followed our lead and wasn’t upset or concerned about it. Wasn’t super prepared to be holding an umbrella myself during the ceremony but it’s all good

    The trend is my friend for Sunday! Looks like models are converging on the strung out euro solution. Euro AI and Ukie most consistently showed this and never really got on board with a full phase

    Kind of wild how different the models are only ~48 hours out. gfs west, ukie and euro way east, nam and icon kind of in the middle

    Agreed, certainly some ways this can either fail completely (out to sea), or at least not really phase until Monday. Even if the complicated setup does come together, Miller Bs usually come in with ULL precip earlier than progged and then dry slot for what feels like forever until the coastal gets cranking. Getting that dry slot Sunday afternoon-evening would be lovely lol
