  1. While I am digging the idea of what is to come for our area, I am mindful of how devastating this is going to be for our southern neighbors. And not to get political, but this will be the first real test of FEMA after all the changes that came last year. Let's hope they are up to the task.
  2. I know everyone is stressed. I get it. We're 36 hours out and prime time for the rug pull. But don't worry folks. My snow shovel broke last year and my wife was adamant that I walk down to the hardware store this afternoon to get one. I said no dear, totally not needed. You're welcome.
  3. Towson checking in. Light snow and no rain and it's been going for over an hour now so a light coating on everything. For reference I'm about a half-mile south of the Towson University Mesonet site.
  4. Was at a concert last night and the moon was spectacular looking.
  5. Train is running right over Towson. I live a half mile from the TU station and can confirm the totals based on my flooded street.
  6. I'd just be happy to see them draft a pitcher or two. I know there's a higher chance of busts there, but we haven't picked a pitcher in the 1st round in 7 years. The unicorns you speak of are few and far between and will come with hefty price tags and, last I checked, we currently have exactly 1 Top 100 prospect right now pending trade deadline pickups.
  7. .86" just now at Towson U according to Mesonet, it came and went in all of 20 minutes.
  8. It's a little too early in the day for rain. It's a nice respite, but once this passes and the sun comes back out it's gonna be a hellish sauna out here.
  9. Oof, didn't think about the hikers on the AT. Those people went through a heck of a ride last night.
  10. Growing up on the Gulf Coast, I noted a few times in my head yesterday that the low clouds and quick movement of the lower layers looked very tropical in nature. Have not been outside today to see if it's the same as yesterday.
  11. Genuinely wondering why. Worried about their job, or are some all in on the agenda?
  12. Don't forget that Chris Davis still has the 5th highest salary on the team this year at 9.16 Million...
  13. I just don't get it. With the new facility coming online and all the money that comes from being in the Big 10, plus what was reported to getting offered the top salary in the conference next year to stay, why would you go to the Big East?
  14. Checks rain gauge - yep, still 0.00 in Towson. On a related note, I can barely move right now because what i thought would be 2 hours in the yard before the rain came turned into 6 solid hours of yardwork and gardening that my body was, in hindsight, wholly unprepared for.
  15. I know fall is a better time, but if I were to overseed my lawn in Towson, when would be the best time to do it this year?
  16. When I transplanted to the Mid Atlantic from the south, what struck me weather-wise was that Falls here were much warmer than I expected and Springs much colder.
  17. Snowed for a few hours in Towson and now shifting over to snow/sleet mix. I must say, this winter has been a blast in terms of the number of times we've gotten flurries and wintry mix compared to the past few years where it was all rain in the metros. There is something to be said about snow TV days without having to shovel.
  18. Womp Womp for the BCPS kids who have 5 hours of online meetings tomorrow.
  19. Don't get me started with the Nissans with Virginia temporary plates on 695
  20. It is. But if I'm the superintendent making the choice, I either close school and everyone logs in from home and I still get my funding and credit for a school day, or I make everyone come in and run the very low risk of a bus sliding off the road and overturning in a ditch? Slam dunk easy choice there. It's the new reality.
  21. With every kid in BCPS having a laptop these days, there is very little downside to online school from time to time. Literally no reason to "tough it out like we did back in the day".
  22. Oof I didn't even think about you all (assuming fed) and the ones who will be dealing with DC traffic this afternoon on a day everyone should be WFH regardless.
  23. They always turn north, until they dont.
