  1. Late report but the snow squalls are meaning business up this way. Been coming down moderately to heavy at times. If you get under one of the heavier bands moving south enjoy.
  2. Yeah that band setup just to the south of me here in Rocky Mount Virginia. We managed to get 2 inches out of it which is a win. Just to my south in Henry County heard of reports of stranded motorist and over 4 inches in accumulation.
  3. Good luck everyone. It's been snowing here since yesterday morning late. Roads didn't cave until sunset and the 40 minute drive home wasn't fun. Temp 15 with a Dp of 12 and 1.5 inches on the board.
  4. So you're not buying the high totals the models are putting out currently? I know @Buddy1987 @BornAgain13 @wncsnow and more would love it. Also do you think the trend NW stops?
  5. Stay home if you can. No bare pavement or plow trucks as far as the eye can see. I could barely walk my dog in the snow/sleet combo. I can say for the first time in 20 years of living here that route 40 has been covered for a longer period of time than usual. A nice mix of snow and sleet is falling now with 3 inches total so far. First photo my driveway and the second and third are route 40 east and west.
  6. Currently a sleet bomb out there. Been that way for a while. We had 1.5 inches of snow before bed on the board. Approximately 1.25 inch of sleet at this time. I hope we stay sleet for the remainder of this storm. Temp 12 Dp 8.
  7. I'm having the same problem with mine or that memory is low.
  8. Still snowing sideways out there. Temp 15 Dp 6 with a half inch on the board.
  9. I'm home now. I will take pics in a little while when I go back out. Any recommendations on taking pics because of size restrictions here.
  10. Heavy snow in Rocky Mount Virginia. Everything is covering up primary roads included. I'm just off route 40 and it's not looking good out there. Be safe everyone.
  11. Heavy snow now in Rocky Mount Virginia. Everything is covering up rather quickly primary roads included. Be safe everyone.
  12. Light snow has started here in Rocky Mount Virginia temp 19 Dp -6. Snowboard is out and ready to measure.
  13. Nice, what radar is this? My local is crap obviously.
  14. We're having snow flurries off and on here in Rocky Mount Virginia without a single radar return overhead. Current temp 20 Dp -5.
  15. Is it true that the Euro does not have the same capability to depict sleet as the GFS? If so it would be best to go off soundings for precip type. Right?
  16. Is the info ingested from reconnaissance shared with other met offices and European model centers? Just wondering why there's such a discrepancy between the euro and gfs. 6z euro is not making friends even here in Virginia.
  17. Checking in from Rocky Mount Virginia. Do we think ratios if things stop bleeding north would be higher than 10 to 1?
  18. Same here in Rocky Mount Va. It's been sleeting and snowing for a while now. It's weird radar says rain but ground truth is white other than the roads.
  19. Has anyone heard why there was no balloon sampling in the west recently and whether that could be playing into the model madness?
  20. Appears we're waiting for mid January for something possibly substantial for the entire forum. This mornings AIGFS shows one way of doing it. Last nights GFS showed it as well. We will see if we can land a storm during that time.
  21. 6z gfs showing a little bit of everything for that period. It will be interesting to see how this evolves or not.
  22. Not saying it's right but the 0z euro run would make many happy if it actually happened. Long duration event for sure.
  23. How has the long range euro AI been performing? I know it's long range but one can dream.
