Pretty sure you swim club - if you haven’t figured it out yet, unless you are like truly exceptional, you are probably gonna be dropping time maybe 4x a year in your best events. Being close to your time at a high school meet is all you can really ask for, lol. Conditions are not ideal and you aren’t close to tapered.Yeah swim club 5 days a week but when I got out of the pool I knew I could of gone faster for my 500 and 200 which sucks.

Maybe your coach is working on your endurance in race situations? Also sounds like you did really well, especially considering this was your first meet on the team, right?
Yeah I placed well but my times were off, I still don't know why he put me in the 500 free. He knows Im a sprinter and can do the 200 free but still put me in the 500.

how did your other events go? Hopefully your coach doesn't put you there again. :-)
I did fine I guess. I got second and third in my individual events but did not go the times I wanted. In my relays (swam 50 and 100 free) or short course events I did very well and was on the B relay. So it was fine but a little upset I missed my times that I know I can go physically but have sort of a mental block where I am so afraid of dying by the end of the 500 or 200 I just don't give it my all.

I can confirm that I am not a distance swimmer after the meet.

I'll stop posting individual shots of the GEFS after this, but it's fair to say that most members look very different than the 12z OP run --- generally weaker and more suppressed + earlier with the storm but wintrier as a result. Happens pretty rarely that there is such disagreement from what I've seen, so consider me invested.
Similar with the Euro members, the main looked fine but a lot of the members had a much snowier solution than I expected.

CMC is delayed but again more suppressed. Snow spreading through Central VA with the mix line not looking too far behind at hr126.
Keeps the subform as all snow all storm. Like it more than the 0z run very light precip though would be more like mood snow but tis the season.

This is my first HS meet so I need to get a feel of how things go before I make a cup of adult colored tea
Who are you against, my meet starts at 8 30 at night so if you are against my team you have a while to wait in the evening.

Jeez, that is about my nightmare set of events.
I *would not* go a 30s pace in the 500 if you haven’t really done it much before. 5:00 is fairly quick for a high school meet - I’d sorta just try and outpace the guy next to you. If a 5:00 500fr breeze for you, rock on. The issue with HS meets is that there often isn’t a warmdown pool and there are only two heats, so you are gonna get a ton of lactic acid buildup. Do some nice walking around warm down and stay hydrated!Only one heat for an event, and right after the 500 free is my 200 free relay. It is gonna hurt. I swam a 500 free less than a month ago and got a time in the 5 20s because my counter was off pace. I was a bit tired but not dying as I should be. Before that 500 we never did pace in practice but now have done some. I think I should be able to go around 30 seconds for pace. Not to mention how this is my nightmare as well, the one thing that would make it worse is switching out one relay for 200 IM. I'm not terrible at these events and free is my best stroke but I just don't like distance. Thanks for the tips though, I'll update you guys as the meet goes on. Did I mention that the meet starts at 8 30, ugh.

I guess I am now, don’t know how to feel about that.

Got my high school swim team events for our first meet tomorrow. Put me in 500 free 200 free then 200 free relay and 400 free relay. I am not a distance swimmer and thus might drown tomorrow. For those who don’t know swim just know that these are the longest events in the meet back to back and I am not great at long distance. For those who do know swim like @NorthArlington101 any tips would be nice. I should go a roughly 30 pace for the 500 so I should be fine but then I swim in the relay directly after and with this being my first high school meet it’s going to be a little rough.

Is someone going to start the weather platitudes bingo card?
Jumping in early with
1. Rain in Southern Maryland
2. Someone mentions "climo"
3. Someone mentions suppression
4. The storm disappearing on the models for a day and the backlash of "it will never snow again"
5. Same people above return in droves as the models tease the storm again a run later.
6. The north trend happens which always seems to happen will surprise at least half the form
7. At least 5 weenie snowfall maps before day 3
8. Mt. PSU gets at least a foot of snow

Back to the possible threat next week. After looking at some of the Euro members some have a pretty good storm for us. Can't post because the file size limit but one had a widespread 6-10 inches of snow.

No electronics during recess
What is wrong with me posting, is it just because I am younger than you? I am allowed to post even I am not the best poster here, I am young and still learning after all. Also recess ends at 6th grade so get it right if you are going to make fun of me.

What do you people mean this setup is a classic, great lake low transfers to off the coast to the southeast all time while giving us snow in a marginal airmass all the time.

Snow along and ahead of a frontal passage when temps are around 60 leading into it? Yeah...that's a cakewalk.
We all know that storms always trend colder and better for our area snow wise.

Yes. That's indeed graupel. Water droplets have supercooled on the snowflake (rimming).
I think it is slightly due to compression from the image but it seems to be more of a snowflake than graupel in my opinion with how it still retains its look instead of a more rounded look. Also when I took the picture there was no dinging off the ground which means that the precipitation was not heavily rimmed.

GFS has a big step in the right direction. Still is rain for mostly everyone south of the mason dixon line but moves the snow line central PA (12z) to the mason dixon line. Might be time to start a thread?
