  1. 2.5" so far since this morning here in Calvert...still coming down heavy from time to time.
  2. In Huntingtown, and two of the three roads leading to my development are STILL closed from the hurricane a month ago... The third access point is starting to wash out as well - they tried putting some bluestone down to control the erosion and it's all washing away. Another big heavy rain event and that one will also turn into a sinkhole and we'll all be trapped. I'm so sick of rain this summer. We have to be close to 35" of rain since July 1st now. We know come winter it's going to dry right up and be sunny and warm.
  3. #$#@#@!#!!#@!# rain it never ends!!!!! I've had almost 3" since last night. So humid, hot and wet. It's Borneo.
  4. Holy lord this is like the storm from hell. So much rain. This has to be a record for August precip here. I can't believe how heavy the rain is. Day after day after day...
  5. I thinks it's just cyclical and luck of the draw. In the early 2010s it was the opposite. Drought every year and it seemed like we had a forcefield around us preventing precip.
  6. I'm down in Calvert. Just over 2" overnight for us. We have to be up over 15" for the month now. My road is still closed from the hurricane and it's been almost 2wks!
  7. What a jungle outside. Reminds me of the month I spent in Borneo for work. All that's missing is the king cobras and monitor lizards. Is this our future? I'm afraid a lot of stick-built homes won't survive long in climates like this. Need to go to cinderblock homes like Central and South America.
  8. Tachinid flies are the worst. Nature is cruel that there'd be such a thing. If I didn't sleeve my larvae then they'd almost all fall prey to tachinid flies. This year has been a record year for regalis. I think it's due to the jungle weather we've been having.
  9. I'll raise you your monarchs and introduce my Regal moth caterpillars!
  10. Winter is basically just confined to March/April from now on. Sun angle is too high to allow for snow then though
  11. If by March you mean January then yes I agree.
  12. Wow I just checked the national radar. That's one bow echo from hell, it's like half the country! JFC the derecho was a nightmare, I could do without one of those for the rest of my life thank you very much.
  13. Liking those storms building east to west from the eastern shore toward us. Now they just need to hop over the bay.
  14. I was just thinking, this August is the equivalent to February 2010 or something like that.
  15. Man what a time to be alive. If 9" of rain wasn't enough, last night we got almost 2" more with that thunderstorm and it looks like we're about to be pounded again. Calvert can't catch a break! Has it already been determined whether a wet August correlates well with a dry cold Jan/Feb?
  16. Picked up 0.875" in Eastern Calvert this morning with a monsoon-like deluge for about an hour. Nice and sunny now. Nothing better than the smell after a summer storm...except the smell of snow in a noreaster....
  17. Long time lurker, first time poster... Checking in from Calvert County. Storms had been tracking parallel to us but finally got dumped on, sun coming back out. We've been spared the storms til now due to proximity to the bay inhibiting convection over my house. Nice and cool too.
