  1. One thing I'll say for this storm is that this cement is absolutely plastering itself everywhere, so it's at least picturesque. I am not looking forward to pushing my snowblower through this garbage.
  2. Macomb is approaching 9 hours of snow and the grass is still visible. The radar isn't any great shakes for the foreseeable future, either. I still think by the end of the entire multi-wave event Metro will be sitting at ~10", but points north and south will be at 18-20".
  3. Yep, another storm that's gonna end up wrapping around the Metro area. The Oakland\Wayne\Macomb weather shield in action.
  4. Yeah, here in Metro Detroit it has been snowing for almost 7 hours and we haven't even covered the grass. Lost a lot to rain, melting, and wet snow. Thinking 12" tops after the end of the 2 day event.
  5. I am thinking, based on the fact that the system is going to linger longer than expected, that SEMI will touch a foot, but that will be as of Sat AM. Flint\Saginaw/points west and south of the border will be looking at those sweet 16-24 numbers.
  6. I see the northern Metro Detroit suburbs ending up with 3-5 inches; Metro Detroit will watch another big dog system slide by just to the south and\or north.
  7. At this point I wouldn't be surprised to end up with an inch of rain and two inches of cement on my driveway by Friday AM.
  8. I'm getting the feeling this is going to be another event where Detroit watches Ohio/Indiana get tagged while we get 3-4 inches.
  9. So nice of Mother Nature to give NOLA a huge hurricane on the 16th anniversary of it's last huge hurricane.
  10. I love hurricane discussions on here, there's always one group of people saying the hurricane is looking weak and one group saying it looks like it's getting stronger. Both groups are looking at the same radar. Lots of wishcasting going on.
  11. Per police scanner they are finding collapsed buildings in the area. Multiple requests for ambulances on the scanner.
  12. I haven't experienced a real thunderstorm since I moved to Macomb County, MI eleven years ago. I went to Michigan State from 02-07 and they had some awesome storms. For eleven years I've watched awesome storm systems roll off the lakes on the west side of the state and just absolutely die as soon as they hit the Oakland/Macomb county line. It's enough to make me think about buying a decent truck and spend a few weekends a summer chasing storms out on the west side.
  13. I literally just watched a nice cell slide by on radar about a quarter mile to the East of my house. My yard hasn't seen a drop of rain today. Is this enough of a reason to sell my house and move?
  14. Metro Detroit in particular has been ridiculously lean the last 10 years. I can count on one hand the number of storms I've seen with more than a couple lightning strikes since I moved to Macomb County in 2010. It gets really irritating hearing thunder from miles away as all the storms dance around Wayne and Macomb counties. I can't count the number of times I've watched my zip code ride a slot in between storm cells to stay dry.
  15. This system is giving me flashbacks to all the systems that Detroit has whiffed on in the last 10 years.
