  1. Going to guess at this; JFK is probably <1 mile from Jamaica Bay and beyond that obviously has a longer fetch seabreeze off of the larger and much deeper Atlantic Ocean. HVN is further from the coast and can have a fetch of ~20 miles, Long Island Sound is not as deep. I believe in the area of 65 feet for the central area. Maybe the Sound Breeze takes longer to develop and thus HVN can have a higher maxima before the onset. Other than that, I got nuttin'.

  11. Was 66° at 5am. Warmest Easter Sunday I can remember. Although in all fairness April 20th is one of the latest days for Easter. Still, Sunrise Service starts with a windy 64°. Wow.

  14. If Cumbre Vieja Volcano in The Canary Islands western wall collapses then according to studies years ago, it could send a tsunami to The East Coast of The US of indeterminate height. However, subsequent studies infer that would require a complete collapse, and a multi-stage event might mean it could not create a basin-wide tsunami.
  15. This phrase is promoted by the National Weather Service, so most likely originated there.
  16. Hopefully upper-level support can overcome SSTs of 41-43°.
