  1. There is a T-storm to the SE of London that is almost stationary. A few unincorporated towns are probably getting quite the rainfall totals.
  2. Unirrigated lawns are toast. Recent transplants are already seeing leaf drop. No above average chances of rain until next Tuesday. Sniffed this persistent dry down awhile ago.
  3. 42 degrees this morning. Stiff breeze by 9 am. Dry air. Punt all 3 of them. Where is my gulf air?
  4. Broadly speaking. When the Bermuda high sets up shop over the SE, what does that usually mean for the Great Lakes?
  5. I had a huge line come through. Tornado warnings just 30 miles west of me. Somehow it was fairly tame for me. No high winds, lightning and thunder always somewhere in distance. Glad to have picked up 0.85” of rain though.
  6. As a plant pathologist who knows that there is an intimate relationship with fungal disease and weather - this summer is shaping to be a punt.
  7. I was hoping I was wrong. But the story of many parts of Ontario and SW Quebec will be drought. Isolated spots got a T-storm last week that just ran off of most surfaces. It is dry here. I can’t imagine what the current realities are in Ottawa and Montreal. There seems to be a fair chance of precipitation tomorrow or Thursday. After that...nothing. Summer hasn’t officially started yet.
  8. Who ever lived in that house has probably joked that 2020 couldn’t get any worse.
  9. Environment Canada just issued a severe weather watch for tonight. I sure hope we get every drop. Only picked up 1 mm of rain in last nights system.
  10. I enjoy the light angles this time of year. From about May 7 to about August 1 my yard gets enough sun to form a dense canopy. I live in suburbville where most of the shade comes from houses.
  11. Had a weather advisory for 20-40 mL of rain today. Picked up 8 mL. I have a suspicion that the eastern part of this region may be dry.
  12. May 20: 1st 70 degree day May 23: 1st 80 degree day May 25: 1st 90 degree day? Sitting at 89. RIP Spring 2020. May 20th and 21st were awesome.
  13. First 80 degree day here today. We finally hit 70 degrees three days ago. And that’s spring. 2 days in the 70s before the 80 train.
  14. Beautiful 73 degree day here. Toronto low 60s. The winds must be kicking off the lake or something there. We are going to get 6-7 straight days of summer like conditions. Warm, humid, and repeated chances of afternoon pop ups.
  15. 78 degrees in Timmins Ontario. 75 in Ottawa. 73 in Montreal. 75 in Quebec City. Meanwhile - Kitchener, Guelph, and Toronto haven’t hit 70 yet this year. Edit: Sault Ste Marie and Owen Sound also hit 70+ today. This has to be a first.
  16. From 44 to 58 F in only 3 hours. One of the fastest rises of the spring. I’m betting the over on the 65 F daytime high.
  17. Today briefly hit 63-64. Nice pleasant surprise. Looks like 72 hours of mostly clear skies. Im calling Thursday as our first 70 degree day. Going to get the fireball on ice.
  18. We gave her a run today! Highest temp of the year.
  19. I’m going to switch my vacation days. Tuesday was supposed to be great. No way in heck I’m going to take Tuesday off from work now. Went from 71 degrees to 51 degrees. I’ll take off that following Monday instead.
  20. I live in Kitchener Ontario (hour west of Toronto) and I will go crazy if Northern Ontario/Quebec hits 70 degrees before we do. And yet it will likely happen this Wednesday. Unreal.
  21. Maybe it’s due to being on lockdown for so long. But I ordered a simple rain gauge and it’s the most exciting thing. It’s collecting rain as I type.
  22. https://www.kitchenertoday.com/local-news/barries-asparagus-farm-hit-hard-by-cold-snap-2348886 Not surprising, but yet disappointing. Big blow to them.
  23. Yep I just ripped the banter thread a new one over this. I’m so tired of below average temps. As a result - I know I’m going to melt into a paste when it even hits 25C.
  24. I’ll take it another step. This is complete BS how long I’ve waited for a 70 degree day. I think it will end up being around 220 straight days below 70.
  25. Monday and Tuesday next week were supposed to be 71 degrees. Now it’s dropped to highs of 59 and 60. WTF. Weather models never waiver when it sees record cold a month from now. But an actual above average day a week in advance.......nope.
