  1. Surface low seems to be forming right on Daytona Beach. As NWS said, too much shear for this thing to get going. For what it's worth, the NAM (I know) has a frisky tropical low moving into the Carolina coastline tomorrow and proceeding up through the Piedmont with heavy rain. Also, towards the end of the GFS, it has been advertising development in the western Caribbean/GOM for a couple days now. It did a good job with Arthur in the long range as well.
  2. Much needed, if it does not fall all at once.
  3. Video I took of squall line that pushed through the morehead city area last week and caused some minor roof damage to my house.
  4. I'll try to upload videos later. Pretty intense stuff for a squall line
  5. Don't know wind speed but had to be 70+ in Morehead City where I'm at when that line came through. Did something to the roof because we have water pouring in through the ceiling. I was here for Dorian and had not such issues. Didn't blow trash cans over. They're in the neighbor's yard across the street...
  6. Looking very likely the less than .20 solution will verify! Ineffective moisture transport because of upstream convection robbing moisture in the deep south. Looks like a snowstorm where we have the cold air but moisture isn't cutting it! Good news is we are sitting pretty with rainfall after a bit of a dry stretch and don't particularly need it! Enjoy these cool wet days as they will be waning before the summer torch inevitably takes over in a month or so
  7. Storms look isolated at best per Hi-res modeling. Hoping for widespread rain to pan out Sunday without a severe threat. It is getting dry.
  8. Can you post links? Thanks. Wish Josh had been able to chase this one. Looked high end at both landfalls
  9. That's a monster impact for whoever was in Harold's eyewall. Sounds like limited population but the initial hit then recovery then even stronger hit on the second island will be devastating for whoever was in that storm's path.
  10. Gotta love the models for this weekend. GFS is dry, no storm to be found. Euro has a potential high-end severe threat from the deep south to the Carolinas. From NWS Raleigh "The only thing the models agree on is to disagree" (paraphrased)
  11. Summer-like afternoon storms today. Isolated downburst possible
  12. Looking like an extended dry period. I know those in the western part of the state will welcome it but it’s been pretty dry in the central part of the state. Saw some fire weather discussion from NWS. Thankfully at my farm in Franklin county the last rain overperformed and we got over an inch but my house in Raleigh saw less than half an inch. Nothing inspires confidence in the modeling that we’ll see that in the next 10 days.
  13. Our friends in NE GA really taint the generic terrible winter across the sub forum... Thanks for nothing guys!
  14. Prolonged warmth, only 1 system to track, absolutely no front end thumps or even minimal sleet or freezing rain events, 1 advisory, constant rain and humidity... 2.75" of snow from one system that stayed on the ground for 2 days salvaged a D imo. Technically, I guess we've had worse?
  15. Just did a drive through franklin county and it was absolutely beautiful up there! Definitely more snow than Raleigh. By no means a high end storm for the state but a lot of people saw a couple inches and it stuck to the trees real pretty. And it’s lasting past noon lol. A reprieve from a terrible winter that I didn’t think we’d get so it made me happy. Said I’d be happy with 2 imby and I got more than that so I’ll take that as a win. Now on to work for a half day...
  16. Slippery streets this morning in the triangle. 27 and BEAUTIFUL out. I love overnight snows and waking up as the sun first hits it in the trees. Large area of NC has snow cover which is pretty awesome considering where we were a week ago!
  17. Little over 2.5” here. Oh what could’ve been with better BL temps. Oh well, salvaged the season, got to watch it snow for 8 hours and had a great time tracking it! It’s absolutely beautiful out. Still snowing atm but not going to amount to anything more. Congrats to all who scored today!
  18. That's what I have (not 2 but 1-1.5"), depending on where you measure. Moderate snow 32/32. Ice has formed on what had been water on my truck's windshield. We are below freezing
  19. I'm at 32. I doubt that's accurate. Roads covered now. IDK where the other North Hills report came from but we're much more than that...
  20. It is coming down in Raleigh! Fiance is putting snow clothes on. About to go on a walk before it gets dark! Starting to stick to paved surfaces
  21. If we keep these rates in Raleigh, we bust in a good way
  22. 32 and everything but roads is covering up nicely! Absolutely beautiful out. Just went out back with the dog. Felt like a 8 year old kid
