  1. Seems like this flight more or less confirmed the NHC estimates. Maybe they bump it to 55kt but everything seems to match earlier intensity estimates
  2. Definitely a little frustrating watching heavy returns evaporate before getting here all day. 0.32” for the day while areas just a few miles away had triple that +. 0.78” for the month
  3. Just 0.38” here today. Brings the month total to a paltry 0.46”. Hoping we capitalize this week we really need a soaker
  4. GFS brings the cutoff low further south. Central NC is completely dry through the run. This would run up significant drought conditions
  5. We need it. Flash drought here. Just 0.08” for the month and everything has gotten crispy in a hurry
  6. Another cool day. 59.7 for the low and 73.4 for the high. Just 0.04” of rain despite rain falling most of the afternoon
  7. Before typing this I hadn’t looked at most recent recon. This is a storm. FL winds up and SFMR winds between 35-40 kts
  8. It’s definitely close but with minimal/no land impacts and FL winds below TS force I don’t disagree with NHC. Right on the cusp of a name though wouldn’t take much to get a 40mph storm at this point
  9. Our highest temp for the entire month was 85. What an amazing spring we have had! No hot days and just enough rain
  10. FL winds do not support an upgrade but pressure and SFMR winds would. Circulation has definitely wrapped up since yesterday as well. It’s a flip of the coin I guess as to whether to upgrade it. It is definitely sheared but that is a tight circulation with convection firing nearby enough to make it look like a low end TS
  11. Very weird weather day. Popcorn showers and then very pretty alternating all afternoon. Not much rain, only 0.03”, but we’ve had 4-5 different showers through the day
  12. Recon has found plenty of 35-40 kt wind. Circulation looks somewhat broad but I’d guess this is our first named storm of the year (yes I know there was a sub tropical storm in January).
  13. 2.36” for the month after the weekend and early week rains
  14. It’s been quite the change in terms of rain from last month to this month. Sitting at just 1.31” for May compared to our total near 11” for April.
  15. A good steady soaking rain here this morning. Amounts not crazy, around a third of an inch overnight plus this morning, but the yard and garden appreciates it. EDIT: Looks like 0.37” will be our total from the morning rain. Some returns east of here, not sure they’ll make it this far. More rain than expected
  16. Picked up 0.48” from the storms last night. No wind here but a ton of lightning
  17. Picked up an additional 0.19” from another thunderstorm this evening. 0.27” for the day
  18. Very aggressive thunderstorm blew up over my house this afternoon. Some very close lightning strikes. Only dropped 0.08” of rain as it quite literally seemed to blow up overhead. High of 87.3 before the storm after a low of 63. Currently sitting at a very humid 77.2
  19. Absolutely fantastic start to May. High of 68 and sunny most of the day. Did pick up .01” of rain from a couple brief showers after dark
  20. 0.99” today finishes off an incredibly wet April. 10.70” for the month! I spoke too soon. We had another thunderstorm come through at 10:00 last night that dropped an additional 0.24” of rain, bringing the daily total to 1.23” and our monthly total to 10.94”! That was our 4th 1”+ event of the month. Cannot ask for much more before going into the summer than wet ground and above average water levels pretty much everywhere in the state. Looks like a dry period upcoming but we could use a pretty weekend.
  21. 0.27” so far since yesterday
  22. 1.88” today brings our monthly total to a very impressive 8.55”. An exceptionally rainy April with several more storm systems coming down the pipe this week
  23. Approaching 8” of rain for the month. Over 1” today with more to come
  24. Finished with 2.59” of rain after our 4th round of thundershowers yesterday
