  1. The hike to the summit of jay takes 15-20 mins from either side. I prefer the upper lifts to be shut off on powder days. You can normally get up to the summit as quick or faster by taking a lift and hiking, as opposed to the tram. Not sure about Stowe.
  2. That clown map looks like another PNW style elevation dependent setup. I wonder if it will ski similar to the late January event, this one has a nice upslope slope look with more cold though.
  3. Anyone been to Le Massif de Charlevoix? Looks like a lot of great sidecountry terrain and great views. Would like to check it out sometime. Only ski area in Quebec I've been to is Mont Tremblant and I was pretty young.
  4. Those are sick shots, that line looks awesome. That entrance is a no fall zone forsure. Looks like theres some hidden ice and rock there too. How'd that look this time last season or does it never hold much snow?
  5. Great pictures! I live on Chester county and my area definitely hit the jackpot on that storm. Further south and west along the MD border I'm pretty sure there were totals closing in on 40".
  6. I wish I was more in tune with the weather back then. Definitely one of my favorite at-home storm memories. Last January 8-11th, 2019 at Smuggler Notch is definitely the best event I've experienced with 38 inches. That was a huge positive bust with really localized upslope bands. Stowe, 4 miles south reported 'just' 27 inches. What an amazing experience and all-time east coast snowboarding. Also had two 2ft+ storms at Jay last march that were incredible and a few other foot+ pow days in southern vt that were fun but rocky... I got really lucky, especially since I was working full time in PA picking and choosing 7 days in advance on storms. This year has been much slower for me.
  7. I got 28 inches in SEPA from this storm. First time ever seeing thunder and lightning during a snowstorm.
  8. I'd love some nice snow tires on my 15 Forester XT but I'm from PA and we literally have under 3" of snow to date.. Huge snowhole in SEPA with philly under 2" for the season, they're normally at 22" right now. Anyways I come up to NNE at least once a month in the winter but I still dont think it's worth it. Never had an issue getting around up there yet, but I've definitely been on some white knuckle drives that would have been more comfortable with snows on. Also, I went to Big Boulder, PA yesterday and after riding Jay and wildcat the other week, it was depressing. Hard being a powder lover in PA, getting outta here soon.
  9. Love magic, it's the reason my 2020 proto type 2 is beat to shit. Edges like a steak knife. Tuned it up as best I could a few weeks back while I was staying at grandpa grunts though. Would love to get to magic on a deep day that has a reliable base underneath it. Here's a clip there from last march, about 8-11" of dust on crust.
  10. This is how you bypass open container laws.
  11. Worth the cold, should be a nice right-side-up powder day.
  12. I don't go up there often due to price, but it's a great mountain and surrounding area. Lots of great restaurants and breweries in the area to check out. Have fun.
  13. January 8-10th brought a decent portion of January's snow for you last year. What did you record for that storm cycle? I know it was really localized with Smuggs reporting 38 inches and Stowe 'only' reporting 27 inches over the 3 day period. Is that Mt. Katahdin? Looks gorgeous. Here's a picture of the Eastern face of Mount Washington on Janauary 24th of this year.
  14. Here's a photo and a video that my buddy took of me at Jay Peak on Monday. I have a few more photos but I'm not sure how to embed them without going over the file size limit. Also I have some clips from Wildcat and Attitash that I can post when I get around to it.
  15. Awesome day at Jay. Felt nice and deep but pretty dense stuff. I'll post some pics videos when I get the chance. Was still dumping as I left.
  16. Yeah man Jay will be nice tomorrow. 6z NAM has over a foot through tomorrow afternoon here. Already around 7 inches from this storm, but it's very localized. Wildcat was ok today, 3-5 of mashed potatoes with a tenth of ice on top. Towards the afternoon it softened up but we left a bit early. Last night's sleet storm in the valley north of mt washington was insane.
  17. Wildcat was nice yesterday morning but once the top layer of dry snow was sloughed off it was a bit icy underneath. They need more snow to open more terrain. Attitash today was pretty good too. A little crowded but manageable, snow was heavier than wildcat. Flurried for a bit around noon. Was raining/freezing rain when we left at 430 and it was snowing at 1900ft going through pinkhams notch at 31f. Id love to hit up cannon tomorrow but my buddy is tied to the peak pass... and we're saving Jay for Monday.
