Beware of a little baroclonic booster juice too. Even if it does start to transition, these things can get a shot in the arm to increase damage yield.

Aren't land obstacles and obstructions(natural and manmade) taken into account when wind velocity is measured during landfall? I mean if a hurricane has a sustained wind of say 160mph, it's out in the wide open ocean. No impediments to the strength of the winds. When a anemometer on land measures the wind has been disrupted by land(hills, mountains, trees) as well as man made infrastructure(buildings etc). Makes me think you'll never get a true representation of the max wind speeds, atleast on land anyway. Perhaps this is all factored in? Always been curious about this.

Ensembles are between St. John's and the Grand Banks..moved east over the last 3 days, out of your hood for almost certain.
That's what I figured. I'm cool with that. Maria has caused enough mayhem. Time for it to ride off into the North Atlantic abyss. -
Those mike ventrice corrected ensemble probabilities for hurricane force winds in nyc look to be working out really well.
How's Atlantic Canada looking? Still in play or a whiff? Seems latest guidance is leaning toward the latter. -
I don't think you could get a more precise hit that that on PR. It just bulldozed through almost dead center of the island. Damn

Yup prepare for the "you wanted it, you got it" posts.
In all seriousness, what is the longest a pattern has sustained itself? Could this ridge west/trough east, last a year? any previous examples of locked pattern longevity?

Would be a nice pattern in the winter.
Ridge out west, trough in the Lakes and Northeast.
Oh how we pray that this holds on for another 6 months.

Third latest to 59f/15c ever, finally got there today. Hit about 65. It's been a brutal late spring. And no to snow. It's not even remarkable for yyt to report snow in June. There's been 5" events in June. How about snow for Halifax in June?
Never happened here. Atleast as far as I know. Would probably take a volcanic eruption to get snow this late. What is the latest date for measurable snow in St. John's?

I really want to see YYT report snow in June. Let's do this...lol

I have a question regarding snow growth. Does high winds always mean bad dendrite formations? We have blizzard warnings up for my hood. Winds gusting to 65mph.
March 13th ... west Atlantic bombogenesis type low clipping SE New England, more certain ...may be expanding inland
