  1. Welp. That was more than forecast. Ended up with 6”. Worst drive in years. Snow weighs a ton. YHZ reporting 9”. This after 1-2” of rain. Potent storm. Birch bender confirmed...lol.
  2. Snowy day in Halifax after about 2” of rain.
  3. Hmm. Maybe this thing ends up being a fropa or anafront deal when all said and done.
  4. This whole storms taking good track but lack of cold air is going to to start getting old if things don't improve. I know it's still early but these systems tracking over or just south of the BM don't happen everyday. Heck last year couldn't even buy more than a couple of those tracks
  5. Lol the gfs went from a whiff at 6z to a decent storm at 12z to a cutter at 18z. Useless model now I guess.
  6. Normally I'd say a whiff is just want you want to see at this lead time. They always trend west but this year? who knows.
  7. Not boring up this way. Gonna have to watch that follow up low for Wednesday. Air mass will probably screw me but that’s close to a blue bomb if the heavy rates can get in here.
  8. Annnnd we’re off! First measurable of the season. Just shy of an inch but it’s a start.
  9. Try this http://meteocentre.com/numerical-weather-prediction/forecast-systems.php?lang=en&map=na&mod=ukmet
  10. A couple of head fakes and some weenies are stampeding for the exits...lol. Going to be a tough winter. At least we know the big storms models are blowing up in the 6-10 day timeframe are fraud. For now anyways.
  11. That look like a map taken from just about every storm last winter.
  12. The difference this season is that hopes aren’t inflated like last year. If this winter is sub normal, at least there was some indication that it could happen so not as much of a let down. Time will tell.
  13. Solid hit here too. The euro shows how to get and early season snowstorm done. Kinda a compromise look between the amped models and the big whiff on the gfs.
  14. Nice to see the gulf open for business. With these cold shots progged to come in, even if the 8th falls flat, I feel there will be other opportunities. Pattern as modelled, looks decent.
  15. That threat next weekend is starting grow some legs. Could be the opening salvo of the winter.
  16. Little doubt there will be a pretty stout cold air intrusion starting late next week. Question is how long it sticks around and if we can get a s/w to slide under us during that time. Models have been hinting at that over the last little bit. Next weekend timeframe.
  17. Different track. Which makes a big difference. Juan can in from the Atlantic on a south to North direction. Damaging winds made it much further inland. Dorian can in on a sw to ne direction. Damage was confined to the coast. Euro was too deep but Dorian definitely got some extra juice when it started to go ET. The NW winds on the backside of the storm were no joke.
  18. wow is that another threat in the long range? I know it's a long way off but that is concerning.
  19. Thanks. Well I found out that my site is terrible to capture wind data. I have too many obstacles. I need to raise my anemometer. The airport recorded gusts to around 60mph which seems about what I experienced. Just a strong Nor'easter here but a long the coast is where the damaging stuff happened.
  20. Got power back. 26hrs without but was expecting worse. Not much damage at my place. Just far enough inland to avoid the strongest wind gusts. Didn’t get pics but there are lots in the net. I like this one.
  21. Yeah Dorian drinking some of that extra tropical booster juice. I notice that strange absence of clouds and thought maybe sting. Pretty cool. Maybe I can catch some of that later.
  22. I see NHC just upgraded back to a cat 2. This storm is toying with my emotions. Anyway conditions here are blustery with occasional strong gusts thrown in. I’d say sustained in the 25-30mph gusts in the 50’s. Worst is yet to come. Rain is torrential now. Falling in white sheets. I’m inland so I suspect conditions on the coast are much worse. So far one power bump but still holding in my area. Lots of others have lost theirs. 120k and climbing. Will post back when things change.
  23. Looks like a tad bit of good news. Dorian no longer gets to cat 2. Landfall a shade east of the city it looks like. Euro too west perhaps. It’s so calm outside now. Very eerie knowing what’s on the doorstep.
  24. I bet surge in the harbour will equal or rival Juan. I know it’s a bold statement but that’s what I’m thinking. Especially with a south wind. If it tracks just west of the city.
