Yes indeed! And that is why I remain cautiously optimistic for some chances this year. Remember last year, no sustained cold and a lot of false hope two week outlooks....

This week looked good two weeks ago and it went kerpluee... I am in wait and see mode for Christmas week.

Weeklies still look good into Mid January..... nothing wrong with the WB EPS control run this time around....at least we have some cold air around this year... we are just going to have to luck into a flush hit. We will know within 3 months...

GEFS moves the MJO into warm phase 6 at the end of the two week period. EURO has half its members in the null phase in two weeks.

Here is the 12Z EPS members at Day 15....jury is still out on whether it will cold /warm/normal...

Latest WB EURO weeklies. Christmas looks near normal, not a torch....cold builds back into January and precip looks to be normal to above....not bad!

MJO is going into 6 the week before Christmas. Hopefully, it will race through it so we can have a chance in January. Latest EURO weeklies look like the pattern could improve after the holidays. But that is the way it looks today, maybe the models will flip again by the end of next week to something more favorable for the holidays.

WB EPS December 3rd control run is better....I agree with the general premise: give us cold air and at least we can say it feels like winter. and we have a chance to luck into a snow storm.

JB posted this map. In a video stated this forecasting method worked last year. He acknowledges no forecast of wind reversal at 10MB at this time.

With our December snow chances on life support, WB's JB sees a stratwarm later this month that will cause an arctic outbreak in mid January...
