    What is encouraging is that the end of the torch period is now under 10 days….specifics TBD.

    WB extended GEFS. 4 days ago the 7 day snow period ending on the 19th compared to latest run for the same period. Anomalies centered around the 10th for those that hate the snow maps….

    Latest WB 18Z GEFS is better for the January 10th period potential…. 12Z yesterday, the bad 12Z run today, and the latest.

    WB 12Z GEFS, not a good run, basically says forget winter into mid January. Looking at individual members still about a third bringing colder air by mid month.

    Latest WB GEFS extended has lowest height anomalies centered around the 15th in the next 20 days. We then lose the eastern trough again so maybe only a brief window of opportunity in mid January.

    WB 6Z GEFS…for the fantasy land threat(s) at about day 13….but it is the only period to watch the next 2 weeks.

    The latest weeklies are not that impressive to my nonexpert eye…but they are not a torch after the first week of January. Seems like we will have a better handle on January after the torch period. Patience will be required. Not much happening the next 10 days unless you like mild and rainy weather.

    Even while we torch during NYs cold air lurks in Canada, so we don’t have to wait for the whole Northern Hemisphere to cool down again…WB 12Z GFS

    Between 8-9 degrees (depending on which thermometer I use)

    We just don’t see this kind of cold anymore… I don’t enjoy it as much without snow as I get older but at least the glass is half full this Christmas weekend….enjoy!

    Hmmm….4 days out the GFS gave me 4 inches today and I got 4 flakes. Now I am getting .6 inch 4 days out so I guess I will get half a flake on Tuesday. The Doug K. Curse continues….

    Just drove from Brunswick to Frederick….roads are fine. Just hold onto the steering wheel. It is windy.

    Update on the flash freeze, glacier has formed on the foothills west of Brunswick, moving this way, drops of rain have turned my house into an igloo, can’t open the front door… Wind has picked up substantially. It should dry everything up…

    Agreed, hyped front definitely underperformed….Dr. No Euro had it nailed several days ago. Not even that windy.

    Latest WB GEFS extended brings back normal temperature starting the 7 day period around the 12th and progressively colder thereafter….

    Will be watching the individual GEFS members temp anomalies….some members do speed up the progression back to cold. WB 0Z GEFS.
