  1. Not sure where you're located but none of the snow in my area was gone like that...literally two weeks and still had lots of cover in shade. Shopping store parking lots had 30 foot piles that sat around until late March, pretty nasty looking by then. Had some dumb neighbors who stranded their cars in bus lanes and got towed. Winter isn't snow, btw...its the most misrepresented season. The so called shortest day is the beginning of winter not the end. Then people want spring whenever they don't get the snow they want. Then when spring hits almost nobody talks about it. Plus early spring is bugs and mud, nothing growing yet. Stinky too, lol. April is when the growing season hits.
  2. I posted this up awhile ago. DC is flat at the center and elevation is NW/SE. Notice the true 0' elevation is only at the river borders including much of SW. I'm in one of the hilly spots. Got about 1/1/2" in my neck of the woods.
  3. Bring it on. It don't bother me a lick. No hysteria, no whining, no drama.
  4. Taken 10 minutes ago...frosty and chilly SE! Because we like it that way. now 32 degrees.
  5. Down to 33/32DP wind 11 mph. Tried to post some pics but had technical difficulties. Streets frosty with tire tracks. Everything else covered. Speed bumps have more cover than the lanes, weird. Still rippin'. Giggity.
  6. Yards out here now nearly white. Streets look glossy. Car toppers shaping up nicely. Holding at 34
  7. Snowing HEAVY in SE...streets wet but cars and grass rapidly getting covered. 34/32DP. booya.
  8. Moco offices and schools 2 hour delay. No word on gov... OPM code yellow. Director giving early unofficial word. 2 hr delay, unscheduled leave/telework.
  9. DC is a bowl. The 'core' downtown has no elevation and the perimeters (NW, SE) have elevation. As you move toward MD the elevation rises.
  10. FEAR NOT! Never say never...updates from Clown County, USA
  11. People keep hoping for a different magical forecast for some reason. The storm information isn't exactly new! We don't control weather so why keep freaking out? Post less, take a breath. Just roll with it... After holding at 37 for hours a sudden drop to 36 in the last few minutes. DP at 33. Meanwhile I'll entertain myself by looking at leftover snowcrete patches on my block.
  12. down to 38/30DP. dropped 2 degrees in the last half hour...
  13. Some weather site with too many crayons and a bad sense of location. I especially like the way DC gets more than Boston and NY...this popped up on Facebook. I'm sure it sent a few people running to stock up until April.
  14. You have a sharp eye. Note the purple/blue over the water, the pinks correspond to NW and SE borders where elevations go to 200+. Like a perfect topographic map. DC is essentially a bowl.
  15. I agree some of the technical climate discussion whizzes past me. What if there's an informational thread with graphic samples and explanations of basic terms used here? Like FOLKS. I can't find that mentioned anywhere but on this forum. Miller B vs Miller A look MECS, SECS, HECS (I forget what SECS is). Prime hi/lo locations for large snowstorms in mid atlantic Clippers vs coastal formations I think a quick reference guide/thread would help. It could even be added to over time. I usually don't mind banter but when everything turns into banter its annoying and distracting. When all the colorful maps are posted some of us non weather heads would understand better what to ignore (or pay attention to) on various runs. Just my two cents.
  16. The magnetic rope ties on my patio curtains have been blown off. Unbelievable!
  17. 18 / DP 0 Extreme cold wind warning. Can hear the gusts blasting around at times.
