Bottomed out at -2 sometime during the night back to 2 now. Also picked up an additional skiff of snow overnight.

Just dropped to 0 in Northern Macon county with a wind chill of -18. Gonna be the coldest night we’ve had in the past 5-10 years.

Picked up around 1/2” of snow overnight. Temps held steady 6-7 degrees since 7:30.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t this Thursday system really similar to what we seen Christmas 2020. If memory serves right that event trended better in the last 48 hours.

As usual precip is further north than any model shows. Reaching into southern Tennessee. I think they’ll be some snow flurries/showers in the southern mnts this evening.

Upslope totals are ok but generally have been getting less and less too
I wouldn’t worry about upslope totals on global models, they never project much if any.

Gefs just took a huge jump in precipitation for the Thursday/Friday system. Almost a 1/2” mean.

Mountains hammered again on 18z
Also shows a few snow showers Monday night. I’ve not punted that storm just yet could definitely trend to a inch or 2.

Eps and Gefs both show a good signal for snow on the 23rd and again on the 26th. Both ensembles have a mean of 2-5” thru the 26th. I’ll take that at this lead way any day of the week.

Overnight euro is wild. We get heavy synoptic snow to heavy upslope snow with temps dropping near zero and windy asf.... Some places are showing over a foot of snow and this has ENS support....
Just to extrapolate out for fun. I would assume that would be 6+ for all the mountains and some 3 feet totals on the border with some insane snow ratios. Fun times are definitely ahead fellas!

It’s still a little early on but I think the first chance for my neck of the woods is 12/18-12/22

The 18z shows the potential of this upcoming pattern. I wouldn't get worked up about what you see but just know that this is a possibility especially after the 12th...
I agree I wouldn’t take any run verbatim, but with the kind of pattern we’re changing to, a storm could show up 3-4 days out and be game on.

Ended up with 2.37” north of Franklin. I agree with the pattern change mid month. Lots of blocking around.

Just crossed the 1” mark on the night. Gonna be a good rain for areas still in the drought.

Models have shifted a good bit west with the tropical system Friday/Saturday. Maybe we can put a big dent in the drought.

Funny think is I got .3" here with everything soaked from the road to the lawn but then Ace only got a trace. Crazy how big microclimate plays around here.
The microclimates here in the Mountains are absolutely fascinating. That’s a huge difference for y’all, with the close proximity. Hopefully one day I’ll get to compile some numbers for different ones here in Macon County.

44 here this morning, but low stratus hanging over the Valley was the culprit. Fingers crossed the rain chances hold for Sunday into Monday. We are getting terribly dry here in Haywood County.
I figured y’all picked up a little Tuesday night. We only got 0.21” but it definitely made a difference for the good. Hopefully we can all get some rain over the weekend.

Radar looks promising, hopefully we can pick up some much needed rain overnight.
