Going on absolutely nothing other than recent past experience, this will not pan out. Of course, I hope I’m wrong, but it just has that feel of meh, it’s not gonna happen. That’s my peer-reviewed scientific analysis. .

Wait until you have kids. Then you’ll be on and be like, who are these people and why are they so crazy. .

My completely non-scientific research tells me that while we all claim here to love the cold weather, it’s actually not true. Cold and dry, like when some of us were kids? Nope. We want snow. That’s what we’re here for. Mild weather, cold for a day with big snow, cold for a day or two afterwards, mild again. And repeat. The cold and dry just leads to annoyance amongst the posters. .

You know how some years (like last February) it just finds a way to snow? It happens on the other side of the coin, too. Sometimes, it just finds a way not to. [emoji2371] . -
That or everything was *well* north and west of us. Damn it Jackie, I can’t control the weather. .

[emoji848] it’s been cold and our usually snowiest month is February. For what it’s worth, this is exactly the kind of winter we had around here when I was a kid: cold, small events, snow to rain. We just had a major storm last February, and it doesn’t happen every year. Now I sound like my dad to my younger self over thirty years ago. .

Every year, I watch the same movie. Models bringeth, models taketh away, and so it goes. I now go on if it’s good or bad if Walt or Don or their compatriots comment, combined with the sheer number of posts to sift through. .

As I was shoveling out slush today, I reminded myself I loved this when I was younger and that my kids do, too. .

It’s really cool to hear the reasonable, knowledgeable, and experienced people. As for snowman, he’s like a model with known biases; you know it’s going to be warm and just go from there. .

Do you think it was completely unexpected because of this board or your own past experiences? I definitely try to weed out the extreme outliers on this board (whether it’s you give us 22 minutes, we’ll give you a torch, or names I’ve never heard of doubling down on 2’) and listen to people like Walt, Don, and Forky. (Others, too) With that said, it’s tough to cut through the noise. We had several inches of snow down here in Morristown and gusty winds through 11. It turned to sleet and then rain after that, and now I want to make sure to get the plow in out before it freezes. .

Not sure if this is the right thread for this, but this has to be one of the issues (of many) that people don’t take global warming seriously enough; the short term models change radically run over run, and people see that on their phones. (Yes, I know that they’re two very different spatial scales, but I don’t think the average person thinks about that) .
