Do you think this is all CC-related, or patterns like El Niño amplifying CC to make it worse? (Probably an open-ended question, but wanted the opinion of someone who knows what they’re talking about. Thanks!) .

I always say something this to my dad when he mentions that the iPhone weather app or TWC app has snow or ice more than five days out. Basically, we can detect temperature patterns, as in it is likely enough to support snow at that timeframe, but there’s no way to know for sure precipitation other than there’s a broad signal but no specifics. .

Because they’re a lot smarter than me, and I didn’t go into it as a career. Essentially, I want the abstract. (Plus, it’s one of my favorite gifs!) .

That’s a good point. I just sat down and opened up the app on my phone, and it told me I hadn’t checked in eight hours (this is my go-to social media this time of year). Kind of bums you out when you realize it’s a few days before Christmas and it’s boring out. .

I have been watching TWC my whole life and my closest, lifelong friends are meteorologists… and I’ve never heard them mention that before. [emoji2371] .

100% agree. See what we went through with Covid. AGW is pretty damn clear IMO, but the way you present a message matters as well. People don’t listen to others when they’re being condescended to. .

Well said. Just like in a personal relationship, if you stoke negativity around every corner, the other person will come to resent you and tune you out. .

I disagree with you on this. I'm not a world-is-ending-environmentalism-is-my-new-religion type of loudmouth, but it's all about probability. Yes, cold is, can, and will continue to occur (as shown from the examples you provided), but statistically it is showing that it's happening less frequently as compared to warm departures. As humans, we always seem to instinctually need a power greater than ourselves to devote our minds to, so some people do that with CC or anti-CC. Same church, different pew as the every other religious fervor throughout time. Pun intended.
