28.1* this morning. Soaked the lawn from 9:30-10pm and 12-12:30am to try to stave off the frost and avoid damaging all the new seedlings. They don't look to be effected. Happy a weedy area I planned to take out and overseed got crushed.

Last year was pretty amazing for levels, could drive the boat just about anywhere without concern. Water was as high as the horseshoe damns at Gate 31 and 43.

Sun coming out, this will help get things going.

Seriously, 61* at 11am and 49* now. Starting to brighten up though even with the showers. Radar should pop in the next hour or so.

Going to be funny when I put 2500' of tarps from my firewood piles over my new lawn to try to save it.

I only covered with peat moss in the bare/thin spots. For that I would break it down as fine as I could with a shovel/trowel, took about an hour and used 4-5 cubic feet of it. If I was doing the yard over again I'd get one of these which can be rented at most places (just a compost spreader). I used straw in the fall when I started from scratch and never again after using peat moss. No raking out, no worries about bringing weeds into the lawn, and can always tell when I need to water.

The grass loved the temps of the past week. I overseeded with about 6 pounds of Jonathan Green Sun and Shade, covered with peat moss, did a second app of Tenacity last Tuesday/Weds. Have also been have been "spoon feeding" (.25lbs of N and .5 lbs P per 1000 sq. feet) the past few weeks. The lighter colored spots are thinner areas/some Tenacity bleaching. Already have some serious germination happening. Going to wait until most of the lawn is 6" or the seedlings hit 2" (I took it down to 1-1.5" to overseed last week and is still at about 2.5") and hope it overtakes the chickweed and clover. The lawn is ~90% tall fescue so I need to start growing it tall anyway. Plus I'd rather spot seed again than spray Tricyc in a few weeks, especially the edge around the driveway as you can see how thin it is. Also need to edge the Daffodil area to stop that stuff from creeping in. I know milo has iron in it but anyone ever use something like liquid iron? I really want the dark green to come out in the future.

Mom thought it was pretty funny as did the rest of the family. I could not get a picture of me with it for size so had to improvise. She is almost 9 months old for reference and about 18 pounds. Conservative guess was the bass is 8.5-9 lbs. I compared my measurements of it to a friend who just got a certified 9-2 largemouth (his was 22" long and had a girth of 19") and he insists its >10 but I don't think so.

I'm sure I'd be sick of it after a while too. Guess I'm in the dew-closet.

Topped out at 81.2* and have a nice breezy. Wouldn't mind this weather all summer.

As do most folks! In terms of the moss, it does not care about soil ph too much all about staying wet. Either through areas that do not drain or too much shade. Mowing really low (1.5-2" ) in spring or extended periods of dark/wet weather helps get light and air flowing in to dry the soil out. I have had much fewer moss issues since doing it this way.

Yea I had a serious moss issue as well. How much shade do you have? Was it Scotts Step 1 w/ Crabgrass Preventer?

Got a giant out of the Quabbin on Wednesday. Was the baby's first largemouth experience.

I have just gone to using a digital meat thermometer. With the sun yesterday 2" down was up to about 50-52* by the end of the day.

Love that night temps are staying ~40 or higher. Soil is still only about 44*. Mowing it down to 1" to get it spreading. Definitely seen a nice burst the past few days. I imagine the next five with warmer temps and rain will really get some growth going. I'm thinking I have fewer bare spots to fill than I thought. Definitely going to garden weasel up larger areas around the back side of the Oak tree and the edge of the driveway and seed those heavily. Anything bigger than 6-8" I will probably scrape a little and seed. Bought more peat moss than I needed to cover all the newly seeded spots.

I'd add Six Feet Under to one of the best. There are some shows that got cut short (2-3) seasons that I'd take over Breaking Bad such as Deadwood, Spartacus (that show is off the wall, shame the main actor died so young), and Newsroom.

I like the iron in it that will make your lawn go dark green. Another reason to love it.
