  1. When I went down to the smoky mountains last march I defenitely noticed a difference once you crossed the Ohio at least by Paducah. The whole vibe was just different. It was the same way heading back up once we crossed the Ohio again.
  2. Ok I hope we get some snow soon. This brown everything is really starting to get annoying. Alas forecast is not looking too great.
  3. I mean there are some pretty dystopian areas of the U.P. Have you seen Ironwood-Bessemer Area.
  4. This storm is going to be interesting. If some of these models are right I could be getting a foot! On thanksgiving weekend! That doesn't happen very often. Hopefully it staves off ust lng enough for the majority of travel to be done on Sunday.
  5. That really was an awesome blizzard. we got the max snowfall from that storm right here at about 20". I remember how big some of those snow piles were after the storm. It was one of the few storms that made me lose power. That doesn't happen very often around here. I also remember the winds the day after that blizzard hit. Climbing around snow piles with a blue sky and frigid winds felt downright arctic.
  6. About 2"here which is a bit more than forecast. The snow looks very beautiful on the trees and shrubs. One thing I always notice with these first snow events is how much brighter it is outside compared to the same time yesterday.
  7. Got down to 25(!) here last night. Our growing season is definetly done now. *Sigh* this is one of my least favorite points of the year because this means that everything will be brown now till the snow flies.
  8. Didn't get a freeze here. Clouds stuck around too long last night. Still got to 35 which is still cold.
  9. This fall is reminding me of 2007. Hopefully we don't get a repeat of that winter or else it's going to be a very wet March/April for a lot of people.
  10. Oh please not again! We just dried out from the last one.
  11. Talk about a difference. Shows just how different the up is from everyone else climatically.
  12. I really hope I don't wake up tomorrow to 2008 v2 with the Crawfish.
  13. Looks like for at least the first week it's going to be more rain around here. That's great because we totally need more rain around here (/s)
  14. Well this month has been one wet month around here. I have recorded 13" inches of rain this month with most of it coming in the last 2 weeks. This is by far the wettest month i've recorded so far. I have feeling at least where I am it might be the wettest August ever. All the rivers are at least bankfull stage with some going higher than 2008. The Kickapoo, Upper Baraboo, and the Yahara seem to be the wort affected so far. Around here the Crawfish is at it's stage since 2008. And the rain looks like it's going to keep coming for at least the next week. We really need to dry out in Southern Wisconsin.
  15. Here in the eastern parts of the metro we did not get hit nearly as bad. I got about 4" here. I haven't checked out the Crawfish today, but I'm assuming that it's not that high as there was less rain to the north. I haven't heard too much about any impacts in Sun Prairie or The East Side so i am assuming that they came thorugh realtivley unscathed. A big concern of mine right now is the level of Lake Mendota. It has already gotten past the record set in 1993 and is still rising. I've seen a couple of photos of flooding of backyards on the lake. That is quite rare for that to happen.
  16. Of course there'll be squalls now. I'm going up north on vacation for a week.
  17. How about no chance of snow and a chance of rain instead?
