  1. Nope, we never do well when precip has to make it over the mountains, rain or snow.
  2. This one was a miss all the way. Didn’t even get much rain. This weekend will be rain. Maybe the next one
  3. Agree. Maybe we get quick burst or snow on the backend but that’s about it. I’m looking more towards middle of January. Still strong signals of a potential storm
  4. Just looking at radar, looks like classic case of the mountains robbing any precip trying to come this way
  5. Just a FYI, the GFS also had Richmond getting 8-12” Monday’s storm and we didn’t even get close to that. Just throwing the caution warning out there for those hugging the GFS. Maybe it’s right for you guys though
  6. Agree. Next system does nothing for me. Mid January looks very interesting but again we’ll see
  7. Very possible. Well have to see if the precip can make it over the mountains. Usually drys up once it makes over the mountains. 18Z HRRR gives us about 2”. The 18z 3K NAM gives us very little because it’s warm and keeps most of the precip as rain. We’ll see.
  8. 1-2” seems likely for Friday morning. Maybe 3 if we can get some moderate rates. Will be a fast mover. MLK weekend bares watching
  9. Not upset about the 12z suite for Thursday night-Friday morning. I’m sure things things will change though between now and then
  10. Soooo many places closed today because of the snow. One of my friends couldn’t even get their Instacart order. First world problems I guess
  11. Onto the next threat! Of course models are not in agreement. Right now the euro has it but it’s too far north. We get mainly rain here. Things will change of course
  12. Wakefield did get this one right. Their forecast was 4-6 for RVA. Got around 4 in Scotts Addition
  13. Even on the Kuchera maps which is suppose to differentiate between sleet and snow was wayyy overdone
  14. Yes!! So hard to get big snows here. Hard to get the cold and precip to match up. Would be nice to be in the bullseye and it verify. Just to note too, the GFS did horrible with this storm. Wayyyyyy overdone
  15. Pretty cool storm after temps in the 70s. Took a little too long for the changeover to happen. Some snow is better than none. Next threat could be as soon as Thursday night but as of now that’s looking like a complicated setup
  16. Beautiful out there now. Wish we had this last longer
  17. Maybe have one or two moderate to heavy bands come though before it’s done
  18. I would think so with lows in the teens tonight
  19. Will probably finish on the low end but pretty cool to see snow after so much warmth. Didn’t really get the heavy bands that models projected.
  20. Been a long time since we’ve seen wind driven snow like this
  21. Love looking outside and looks like a snow globe
  22. 3-6 seems very possible if we can keep these rates
