WellI didn't kill anyone by not driving a grounding rod 8' down so I'll take it. Ideally powers back on before xmas.

I have that same setup, and my electrician didn't say anything about needing to ground the genny, and he's very "by the book" with stuff. The genny does have a ground wire that connects the engine block to the frame, I believe. But per the Generac site..."When connecting to an electrical panel (building electrical system, manual transfer switch, RV, etc.) you need to connect your generator to a ground rod. Ground rods must be pounded into the earth, then connected to the ground lug on the generator via a ground cable. The rod must be at least 8ft into the earth."
This the first I've heard of this. Not sure how the hell to get a 8' rod into the ground in New England. Good luck finding a clear 8' shot without hitting a rock.Thanks. And likewise. Only reason I questioned it was in reading the manual last night it mentioned grounding it with a rod 8' deep.

I already shut off power to my house.
I figured it's a given that we'll lose power tomorrow, and the family needs to toughen up, settle in for the long haul.
Pan-fried hot dogs and cold tubs tonight, kids!

I have a portable generator that I inherited brand new. House has one of these exterior outlets to plug it into. Breaker inside has one of those safety interlocks on it so you can't accidentally send feedback into the main line and kill a lineman.
My question is: Should my portable generator be grounded with a rod, or is the ground "covered" by plugging into my breaker panel via external outlet? No clear answer via googles.

4.3”/0.37” in the latest core. That’s a total of 9.4” so far.
It’s a good thing I took a look at the run because the snow was clinging to the strands of the hawk netting and eventually closed off the 1”x1” squares. It was like a solid roof of 4-5” of snow and was stretching to the ground about as far as it could go. I was able to shake it from every fence side to get the snow to fall through. It probably would’ve snapped by morning.
Anyway…32.5° and -SN/SN.
This stuff cakes up fast and heavy. Coop saved.
Throwing some straw and scratch in the run tomorrow afternoon.
2.3" (0.74" LE) new since 7PM, 3.3" (1.69" LE) on the day.

You have family in Henniker? My family had a place at Rock n' Birch Campground for years.
Yep, inlaws. Is that down by the river?
Got married there. Took my post-Thanksgiving dump in the cow pasture tree grove after that 2014 storm knocked out power (most importantly, bathroom fan). Special place for sure.

It's been solid rain here since about noon. Plow just deposited a pile of slush at the bottom of my driveway.

Mainly for the coast, Just keep an eye on whats going on downstream from here and it looks like from what i briefly am seeing there's some positive bust so that bodes well up here if true.
Flipped to snow here at 9 under the heavier echoes. Coastal front setting up right over me, might be in for a surprise inch or two here.
