  1. That's funny. Maybe he is pointing the way to the Norlun.
  2. Have you measured yet? I'm eyeing about 1.5 on my deck table.
  3. Neighborhood roads caving in Fairfax. Apparently non-weather nerds don't use the word caving like we do. My English teacher friends have been asking me for updates all day, and they were confused when I said my deck was caving. LOL.
  4. I've been working in FCPS for over 25 years. They fluctuate in their closings, but they have been burned many times by forecasts of snow that ended up as cold rain. Then parents get pissed. So they often do a delay with a re-evaluation for closing. If the NWS would give us a WARNING, they would go ahead and close. But don't worry. They will probably change it later this evening to give parents a heads-up.
  5. Can you get me a WSW in Fairfax County? We are only at an advisory. But I'd prefer they start low and go high. It usually doesn't work the other way.
  6. Western Fairfax/Herndon - it's been snowing pretty heavily for the last 30 minutes at least. Deck caving....
  7. Of course you will get it! Not sure why you have been doubting.
  8. I am loving that band of purple and pink right over Fairfax County
  9. Don't burst my bubble. I'm right in the middle of the Norlun Zone on the Euro and I'm hugging it.
  10. I couldn't remember the difference. So 8 pm tonight! Wow.
  11. @CAPE I don't quite understand all the Norlun images, but is this where you mean in the darker purples?
  12. I do not trust the RGEM. Been burned too many times on it being bullish and giving hope!
  13. I remember watching snow accumulate in the January 2000 storm that was supposed to be mostly rain. Temps were around 35. My friends had just gotten married and my husband drove them from Fairfax to Baltimore as the snow piled up.
  14. Thank you for this! I've been trying to find one that I can understand. This is much better for amateurs!
  15. Snowmageddon - the second storm?. We got about 10” in Fairfax while Baltimore got about double that.
  16. Are there good examples of Miller B’s that worked out for the DMV? I think OBX is the prime area for a coastal setup for the DC metro. OC tends to be too far north for us. Is that true?
  17. Yesterday we were talking about knowing accumulation until evening and less than 10 to one ratios. It sounds like that has changed significantly. Are we looking at low ratios with the initial storm and higher ratios with the coastal? I might’ve missed it, but are there any analogs?
