THIS! Tomorrow will be brutal. The January fronts like this one will be even more brutal.

You can see the signs showing as Carver has said. The warm ups are more seasonal as they get closer. Active pattern seems to be showing its hand around Christmas & after. That really cold air is staying on this side of the globe.

I remember they had snow drifts into July that year. Truly incredible to think it lasted that long.

This front loaded to back loaded winter never pans out when people call for them. Winter has its ups & downs like they always have. The record books are full of examples. I remember it used to be the pacific then the Atlantic then no it was another teleconnection. Throw in SSW & MJO. Honestly many have made winter way to salty. My opinion is the MJO does influence winter much more than the PNA or AO or NAO. Pull a rabbit out of the hat already? Way too many are canceling winter before it has already begin. what makes this forum fun is it’s not constant cancel winter crowd. In my opinion December has been great. It has been cold!!! Plus Canada is plenty cold with snow pack in great shape. After the next 2 days, I myself will be glad to have some warmer days. Tomorrow is going to be brutal.

Winter really doesn’t officially begin until the 21st. You have all of January & February, that can produce good snows. February is actually one of the top months for snow in this area. Not sure why so many are already canceling winter when it hasn’t even begun.

I like hearing cold is staying around

The wind and windchill here definitely stings. The sun went away quickly this morning.. Sunday afternoon that windchill is going to absolutely be brutal.

December is still below normal temps wise & looks to average close to normal for the rest of December. Much better than 70’s at Christmas.

I don’t see severe happening either. I see it staying near average temp wise & rain to chilly rains at times. Which I will gladly take over severe wx any day. They can have the tornadoes out over the open plains where people don’t lose their homes or lives.

The thing I don’t like about the anafront is hopefully it’s nothing like a couple years ago. The landscape was wet and it froze so quickly that it killed most of the landscaping around this area. I would hate to see that again.

Hopefully some clippers get into the flow.

Definitely some cold air for next weekend. If we could just get an Alberta clipper to swing thru. Below average December looks to continue for the next 2 weeks

Like Carver said, having the cold air on our side of the globe is a great start to have so far this winter. December is doing very well with below average temperatures.

Keep the flurry of posts coming. When your on a flurry it says good things usually is being shown on the models!
