  1. clouds will come in later in the day. we're fine through at least 2 pm
  2. 1953 - The worst tornado of record for the state of Michigan killed 116 persons. Flint MI was hardest hit. The tornado, half a mile in width, destroyed 200 homes on Coldwater Road killing entire families. (The Weather Channel) Interesting you had a tornado on this date in 1953, we had a historic one in 1953 in the northeast too, in Worcester, MA. 1953 was a historically hot summer here with our longest streak of 90 degree days ever (with two historic hot stretches with 4 100+ stretches split between the two superheatwaves!)
  3. Records:Highs:EWR: 99 (2011)NYC: 95 (1933)LGA: 97 (2011)JFK: 96 (1999) 1999 and 2011 the summer gifts that kept on giving lol

  8. That actually reminds me of February 1989
  9. omg I've never experienced anything like that, in 1993 we had 3 straight days of 100+ which peaked at 102 on the third day and that was my best heatwave ever.
  10. heaviest rain in SW CT. that radar has zippo for here lol it rained for 30 minutes here, how long did it rain by you? I wish that radar had a maximum amount listed like some do.
  11. that 2 hours of sunshine that boosted temps into the 80s here really did the trick. It only rained for 30 minutes and then the sun came back out (but no rainbow).
  12. lots of differences over a short area, we were in the 80s here 5 miles from JFK, we had full sunshine (as in no clouds at all) from 4 pm to 6 pm when I noticed that JFK was mostly cloudy.
  13. temp fell to 69 during the heaviest part of the rain too
  14. Yes very heavy rain now. after this ends would be the ideal time to look for a rainbow :-) I saw on WABC there was a brilliant rainbow earlier right over the Hudson River!
  15. Nevermind it's raining here now and windy
  16. I guess it's going to miss me, it got somewhat dark here and I heard thunder but nothing fell.
  17. I heard thunder and it got dark here (also getting close to sunset now lol) but no rain fell.
  18. okay now sunny here again, I guess we're moving in and out of clouds, it's mostly sunny here now.
  19. getting cloudy here now too unfortunately now I'm seeing tomorrow morning into early afternoon will be at least partly sunny?
  20. been almost completely sunny since 4 pm here and the skies are some of the bluest I've ever seen with temps in the mid 80s.
  21. the skies are the bluest I've ever seen them here, almost violet, I wonder what's going on? I do see a bank of billowing clouds to my north and northeast though. The temperature peaked at 85 here at 5:51 pm. I had to turn on my a/c again as my house inside temp was at 87.
  22. Maybe you're in the 80s too. It's now 83 and mostly sunny here with only some fair weather cumulus clouds near the horizon. Love those blue skies....
  23. wow it's 82 and sunny here ..... is anyone else in the 80s again today? now it's three straight days in the 80s here
