  1. especially since it can go from 60 to over a foot of snow the next day lol, so it should always be warm on the days it doesn't snow
  2. it's February, there are no heat waves in February
  3. well we have some time-- also I read that the pattern should stay good until PD? So we have until the 21st or so?
  4. this is a good sign for the next storm right? a strong SE Ridge should make it trend westward?
  5. I wish you would just post a close up for our region rather than the entire midatlantic and northeast lol these are so hard to read lol
  6. this was the big thundersnow snowstorm, it was an amazing daytime snowstorm went from bare ground to 8 inches in like 4 hours between 10 am and 2 pm
  7. so the warmer it gets on Saturday the better the chances for snow Sunday night is the way I see it
  8. dont these things balance out anyway so wouldn't it be natural for an extreme -PNA to be followed by an extreme +PNA?
  9. wow I remember that's what we did in high school back in the late 80s ah those dot matrix printers lol they were LOUD I got my first computer set up with the DMP included for 1300 back in December 1987
  10. Is this why we didnt get snow with this coastal storm despite the favorable offshore track?
  11. isnt that California drought keeping the ridge going? Maybe it will stay there for the entire month?
  12. Probably- last year winter ended around this time too
  13. I was 4- going to be 5 that year. All I remember about 1978 is a lot of white outside and icicles hanging just outside my window, I lived in Brooklyn at the time near Prospect Park.
  14. greatest back end to winter ever
  15. yes and somehow 2/2013 started as rain here while it was snowing east of here, go figure lol
  16. I heard something hitting my windows but cant see anything outside, it's too dark. This is why I ignore night time events.
  17. 26"? I thought Islip measured 18" in that, like they did for the Jan 1978 surprise blizzard? At JFK we had 12 straight hours of true blizzard conditions in Jan 2016, which is why I'll always rank that far ahead of every other snowstorm and over 30 inches of snow, more than twice what they got in February 1978. We do best here in strong el ninos (Feb 1983, PD2, Jan 2016)....Jan 1996 being the exception of course (we also do well in la ninas that come after el ninos).
  18. Jan 2016 is the new king here first and maybe last time I get 30 inches of snow in a storm lol
  19. so we did have two big February storms that year? Sort of like February 2003 Love those strong el ninos for our biggest snowstorms
  20. Did we have 6"+ in that? I dont think the snow drought really ended until the following year
  21. I love math but was told it really wasn't that important anymore because those kinds of robotic calculations can just be done by computer now. It really isn't a sign of intelligence so don't lose any sleep over it, it just involves doing the same repetitive stuff over and over again (which is why you dont see that kind of question on intelligence tests.)
  22. thats okay they have computer models to do all that stuff now lol
  23. I remember going to that hospital in 1996 after a car accident on I-80 (I wasn't the driver in case that matters.) Really nice people there. Haven't been there since, I wonder if the same people still work there.
