  1. Thanks, when was the last time it happened-- maybe July 2010 or July 2011?
  2. do you know if it was a direct strike or if it hit a tree first or the ground first?
  3. wow it rained here for one hour 7-8 and pretty hard for about 30 minutes very windy and very dark
  4. Nice and toasty, it was 88 here at 12 noon.
  5. Yes, even a Cat 1 might be too much, do you remember when we had that high end tropical storm that moved to our west a few years ago? My house was shaking with 80 mph wind gusts.
  6. Now it's raining hard here and very dark and I hear hail hitting my a/c unit.
  7. Same here, we didn't even get dark here until after 6 pm.
  8. it will be too late and happen after it already gets into the 100s on the south shore by the way, it's not all that cool anymore, water temps in the mid 60s now. big difference between lets say Long Beach and Valley Stream, for example. We were in the 90s back in April 2010 too.
  9. Thats the gorgeous skies we had earlier, deep blue with lots of sun and billowing white cumulus to our north!!
  10. we still haven't had a drop of rain here lol, not that I'm complaining.
  11. No, I just want to know what it would be like, I've had enough of hurricanes after going through Sandy.
  12. Chris would you have said this before 2013-14 and 2014-15 too? One thing about climate change, it means more extremes, more droughts more rain and snow, and more extreme temperatures (maybe more likely in winter than summer.)
  13. Yep, today is ideal, the sun isn't being blocked by clouds, but the white billowing cumulus clouds to the north do look pretty.
  14. There are zero clouds here and yet we're under a severe thunderstorm warning until 4 pm lol
  15. But it wasn't in 1966 either and that was our driest year on record, why was NYC cooler? I just think Queens and Nassau (both north and south shore) are hotter than Manhattan on an offshore wind because a westerly wind comes off Hudson River
  16. well on an offshore wind we are part of the usual hot spots here, looks like the sea breeze will be stuck around Long Beach and the other barrier islands.
  17. This matches my experience here with offshore winds we are almost always hotter than the city. Even in the time before your siting issues surfaced, JFK reached 104 in July 1966, LGA 107, EWR 105, while NYC was only 103. It shows that being in a park does influence the temperature.
  18. You won't need any blankets on Tuesday lol or any clothes at all for that matter!
  19. are you kidding that would be a day to celebrate, JFK peaking with a temperature of 107!!
  20. Maybe we'll get heat lightning tonight!
