    Since you brought him up...many years ago there was someone with the same name...might be the same person, maybe not. But years ago, the person who had that name was incredible knowledgeable and when he posted, everyone listened. Not sure what the story is there...

    It's not a good look but who knows? As long as there are still shortwaves traversing near/close to us, we follow. It's getting to be the time of year when we'll start needing things to align better, however.

    Mods say "no banter" immediately followed by multiple banter posts from the same people. And don't you dare point that out... It's not easy I'm sure, there's no glory in being a mod, no incentivized reason to be one...but for crying out loud, be nice and treat others fairly.

    It's hard to read (I guess I could stop) some of the ongoing comments right now and not speak up. Just some downright ugly responses. I'll leave it at that. Snow tomorrow night would be the ultimate "stats-padder." Whatever we get will be long gone in a few hours on Saturday. I'll take anything we get. :)

    I mean...it is a long range thread that isn't inclusive to winter; however, the long range thread is typically a monthly winter thread plus there is already a spring thread for discussing I don't know...spring? Warmth?

    You keep posting about your preference. This is a weather forum, which includes hot, warm, cool, cold, rain, snow, ice, mist, fog, etc. No one should manipulate what others should talk about. I like cold a lot more than you do, you like heat a lot more than I do. Guess what? I respect the heck out of you as a person, regardless.

    Mid-Atlantic LR thread has turned sour now that the pattern has flipped abruptly - @losetoa6 you're always welcome to keep posting here in our thread. Besides, it'd be nice to have another big Orioles fan in here. Trust me, no one in here is going to get surly and tell you to stop talking about winter. We have a few "warminstas" but they're still nice people.

    From your place north there's notably more snow cover than south...along the river between Columbia and Conestoga it's obliterated. Still a fair amount of snow up this way in protected places.

    As of 3:45PM: Front yard: 80% snow cover (depth ranging from 2" up to 6") Back yard: < 25% snow cover (deepest remaining is about 3", would expect 100% melt by morning) Currently: 56.6 with high clouds on the western horizon.

    Cannot relate - I enjoy nice weather and being outside, but I can do what I want with the daylight we get in November and December. I LOVE when it's dark by 5pm. Different things for different people.

    I understand that - I responded because it seemed like you were doubting my obs. My wife and I just returned from a 3 mile walk in the snow - had a great time. Walking in t shirts on a beautiful day.

    Interesting - I have new Davis Vue that seems to be exceptionally accurate. After I posted my obs, I saw that MU was also 53. Not sure why all of those places you listed were so much cooler. Anywho, 55.2 here now. Edit: It's 55 at MDT as of their latest obs. We are right with each other... Edit #2: It's actually 53 at HIA...my mistake. That was 45 minutes ago.

    Nice seeing the central/southern VA jackpot - that might come as a surprise to some folks down there who've been enjoying an early spring preview this week.

    Agree, as a long-time user of the Auto Train between VA and FL, we've encountered a lot of delays over the years waiting on freight traffic to move through. Amtrak is too bare-boned to have the resources to move to their own rails.
