  1. It took all of 5 minutes after I made that post before the floodgates opened and it POURED. Oops. And yes...I'm watching that blob over the Baltimore area that is on a trajectory to dump on us if it holds together...
  2. I try my best not to be critical of models, but this is why I questioned @Bubbler86 the other day about if any other model was showing our area going into the deep freeze in early April - the GFS to me seems to be REALLY lost these days...(at least the previous version)
  3. Interestingly enough, current radar shows 2 large areas of rain advancing NE - one is missing us to our NW, the other is passing off to our east. Sort of a little dry tongue that might keep the more significant rain away from us, at least for the next few hours. It's a rather small gap between the bands...but it seems like you and I are poised to maximize the gap. Regardless, @canderson is going to exceed .1" today.
  4. Haven't looked at models much at all for the past 2-3 weeks - is the GFS on an island with that depiction?
  5. A chilly 29 to start off the work week. It's that time of year - opening up the site this morning and seeing that the last posts in subs happened up to 10 hours ago tells you everything you need to know without going any further.
  6. 65 beautiful degrees this afternoon. Absolutely a perfect Sunday!
  7. I haven't checked my station once today, but I just returned from a walk in a tee shirt and was perfectly comfortable. It's gorgeous out!
  8. It's been a frustrating journey. So many poor decisions, horrible draft picks, bad trades, etc. They are fun to watch now, Rivers seems to have them gelling as a team. Only title they've won in my lifetime was 1983. Won it in LA the very night I graduated from high achool. All 3 of my favorite teams won in 1983...PSU football, the Sixers, and then the Orioles in the fall. Only PSU won a title since. (1986) Though they should have been at least co-champions with Nebraska in 1994...
  9. We were doomed when 2 of the biggest naysayers became yay-sayers. (you and Williamsport)
  10. Speaking of nasty, welcome to today. Cold and windy on March 19th with not a hint of wintry weather. If it's not going to snow, I'm ready to move on from this.
  11. I'm in between the two of you - first and foremost, I want snow cover to stick around. And if we had multiple minor events that continuously builds or refreshes the pack, sign me up. However, that's not usually how we roll, as you know. So knowing that regardless how much snow falls that it's going to melt fairly quickly, nothing beats the thrill of chasing down a beast. 93-94 was special and might not be duplicated anytime soon.
  12. The "Bomb Cyclone" (January 2018?) brought blizzard conditions to the beach communities...I don't remember how far west accumulating snow got from that.
  13. 12/26/2010 is one that comes to mind. (as much as I try to forget this )
  14. Paul Knight - honestly, my favorite met ever. I remember on Wednesday, January 3rd 1996 that there was talk about a large, powerful snowstorm that was going to affect the southern mid Atlantic region over the upcoming weekend. I know that all of my local forecasts were for a dry, very cold weekend at that point. On that evening's Weather World, Paul said that he felt confident that this large storm would bring heavy snows to at least the southern portions of PA. I have no idea what models were depicting, I just know that every forecast was for the storm to miss south of our area. Except Paul's forecast. He was the first to sound the alarm...and he was remarkably calm and confident that it was going to happen... 5 days later, I started the task of shoveling out from under 30.5" of Paul's heavy snow he forecasted. He was, and is, the most accurate, non-hype forecaster I've seen and/or heard in PA. That was probably his most memorable "win."
  15. Yes, I don't miss many games...and haven't since PRISM was around. I've been a diehard fan since the 1976-77 season. The game Tuesday night? That's a game they would not have won under Brett Brown. Period. This team is gelling under Doc.
  16. Me too! My point was, those aren't the types of days that typically generate a passion for weather...it's typically a large snowstorm or some other significant weather event. Other than my week on Hatteras Island I could care less if we ever saw 70 degrees all year. :)
  17. Probably none of us are on here stemming from a fascination of the day when we were younger and it was sunny and 67.
  18. Thank you for sharing that. One reason why I hate severe weather is admittedly, I never wish to see/experience a tornado first hand. To go through 4...well, I can't imagine. I'm sorry that I've given you a hard time over wind. I certainly won't do that again. Hopefully this is something that you can deal with appropriately moving forward.
  19. Yep, I'm watching live coverage on the local ABC station down there.
  20. I'm assuming it was on one of her many trips to southern VA. Short Pump has taken on a whole new level of notoriety this winter. Meanwhile - already multiple confirmed Tornadoes on the ground in AL and MS.
  21. I shared this with my wife. She looked at me and said she's familiar with Short Pump...I'm not sure what she was saying...
  22. Short Pump under a MDT risk of severe tomorrow with snow on Friday...
  23. I was looking at a webcam from Starkville MS and it's almost completely clear. Not good.
