Bob Chill was talking about that shortwave setting the stage for something to potentially follow on its heels a few days later - he doesn't think that this is the one for us.

Here's one for you - hard to believe it's been 26 years already: (I measured 30.5" in Centerville)

I sure think so! This is my pet peeve with snowfall accumulation forecasts - if we get .3" of rain instead of .5", only a weenie would know that. (and many of them who wouldn't, either) But .3" of QPF that falls as snow can look a lot different than .5". It's amounts, ratios, temps, time of day...there is so much. It all matters. But when a forecast HAS to be made, and it's for 2-5" and someone gets 6" or 7"...oh my, what a terrible forecast! Except it really wasn't. The models did well with the overall placement of the 2 heaviest axis of snow...one in the mountains to our SW, the other primarily to our NE. Parts of our area got into that first axis that might have been a bit of a surprise, but as far as trying to forecast amounts for that type of storm, the models and forecasters did their jobs. And well.

Snowfall map compiled earlier this morning - virtually all of the "true" LSV (Adams, York, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lebanon, York, and Lancaster fell between 4-8". As shown, highest totals were found in York, Adams, and out into Rouzerland.

I believe it's 4 - 3 on 441. (Ore Mine Road, Anderson Ferry, and PA 743) and then the light at the old high school that's now the junior high. The light on 441 and 23 is all you in West Hempfield.

Very windy, but temp is climbing. Was 24 at 9am, now up to 26.

On the morning of December 24th it took me 20 minutes to get from Angle Street to Chickies Creek near the Turkey Hill. Town gets gridlocked a lot.

Final snow total was 4.9". Current snow depth is 4.5". It's sunny, windy, and 25 degrees. And there is no grass visible.

Huge dendrites are now falling...and thanks for the updates.

No change in the past hour - still at 1.3"

Pretty good returns have moved back in but it hasn't translated into much flakeage here yet. Yes, I just made up a new snow word.

If that's right, I'm in line for 6" more. I'm somewhat skeptical I'll get THAT much.

Thanks. I'm happy it's snowing. A huge win is not seeing grass in the morning. Anything else is gravy.

No heavy snow here yet as well...only periods of moderate. We're currently separated by .1"

27 here with snow alternating between light and moderate. 1.3" so far, which means that the grass will be disappearing soon...

I've seen it all now - snowing so hard in Adams county that it's accumulating upside down...

Every snow event brings surprises. I figured you'd be in the mid 20s at this point. PSUHoffman seems really excited by what's unfolding. I like reading that.

That's more like it!

I'm genuinely perplexed - you've had much better rates for a significantly longer period of time and yet I dropped off into the 20s within the first 30 minutes of snow falling. I must have had a lower dew than you at the onset.
