MU:
Colder air wrapping in on the backside of the storm will cause rain to change back over to heavy, wet snow in some areas north/west of I-81/78 later this evening. An additional 1-2 inches is possible in the highest elevations above 1500 feet.
After 4 hours of virtually nothing, that band coming up from the south has arrived. Driving rainstorm has begun. Temp is still at 39. .34" of rain so far.
Heavy rain now. It's pouring. Interestingly, my temp fell from 46 to 37 in the first hour of precip here. With the onset of this band of heavy rain my temp is risen to 39.
Definitely.
Blizz is the guy at the Phillies game on his feet cheering when the Phils are down 27-1 in the bottom of the 9th, 2 outs and no one on base. He'd swear to everyone around him that there was still a chance.
Except...there wouldn't be anyone left around him. He'd be the only fan left.
Pictures in the mid atlantic thread and on traffic cams...wow. This is what a weather nut lives for. Amazing to see snow accumulating on all surfaces on 4/18. Exciting stuff!
Please don't feel bad. There was little to no indication from models to forecasts for any snow east of the river. It's hard to be underwhelmed when expectations were always zero. LOL
This - I'm ready for a soaking rain, and haven't been expecting any snow.
As Bubbler pointed out, that's likely not going to be the case for everyone, however.
Party pooper! (MU's Elliott JUST Updated):
Rain will overspread the Lower Susquehanna Valley from southwest-to-northeast through 2 p.m. & continue during the evening before gradually tapering off after midnight. The heaviest rain will occur from 6-11 p.m., w/a general 0.75-1.50" expected. Expect a slow afternoon commute.
And yet you have a much better chance than me of seeing snow falling at some point. Modeling has been pretty consistent that I should be training new hires this morning on how to navigate rain later on. LOL
Tomorrow's storm looks pretty exciting for parts of PA, perhaps even for some in our thread. I sincerely hope that all of you looking for snow will get some.
MU was all over this a couple of hours ago:
A few heavier snow showers are moving south-southeast through central PA. Most of the activity will fall apart as it gets out of the higher terrain, but there may be a light coating in spots (on non-paved surfaces) in eastern Perry & northern Dauphin Co.’s w/flakes farther south.
