  1. Didn’t the 12z euro look a bit better for middle Tennessee snow sleet wise?
  2. 59 degrees here and a big bust on high temps for the day. Forecasted to be 45 degrees originally. 14 degrees above what was forecasted is about the biggest bust I can remember. I’m hoping this will help keep surface temps above freezing longer and limit the ZR accumulation later on.
  3. For the middle Tennessee area Winter Storm Watch in effect from 6 PM Wednesday through 6 PM on Thursday. Freezing rain with ice accumulations of one tenth to greater than one quarter of an inch possible in the Watch. Power outages and tree damage are possible due to the ice. Tavel could be very dangeergous. Thehazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commute. Hide Caption
  4. I call this winter the season of the flizzard. I’ve had nickel and dime events bring me to 4 inches this season. A 1 inch snowfall and a 1.25 inch were the biggest snows so far in Whitehouse. Lots of snow events but not a lot to show for it so far. Hopefully that changes over the next week.
  5. To be fair We do score much better up on the rim just 35 minutes north of Nashville. Heck even 20 minutes south of here in Hendersonville doesn’t do nearly as good with winter events. I guess my point is I understand the frustration of those living in the bowl / snow dome. Hopefully west and middle Tennessee can get a good storm here soon.
  6. I drove through Kentucky I believe in February 09 a few weeks after a bad one and knew it was one type of winter weather I didn’t want. We were actually forecasted to get that one but temps rose a degree or two over freezing and we ended up with less then a half inch of zr. About 50-75 miles north in Kentucky stayed below freezing and got hammered. The thing that worries me the most is the temps it’s showing following this storm. All of middle Tennessee will be a skating rink with no power if this were to verify.
  7. Honestly I love cold and snow but I want no part of this. That ZR would be devastating for my town and my business in Portland Tennessee. The cold temps that followed is what really scares me. The one problem is that middle Tennessee is absolutely due for a devastating ice storm. I have lived here since 2006 and have always been able to avoid the worst during ice storms.
  8. Tell me about it. Look at the 0z Ensemble for Portland Tennessee
  9. Basically saying nothing but a few snow showers mixed with rain for here. Obviously the better call with model differences. But man if the gfs is correct it’s going catch a lot folks off guard in middle Tennessee
  10. This is what I was mentioning last night. Temp dropped to 32.2 before the snow and then went up to 33.6 during and wouldn’t budge. It only dropped back to 32.2 at 7:40 this morning meaning the whole event never went below freezing. I measured 3 quarters of an inch but that was at 10Am so I’d imagine I would have gotten more had temps cooperated. Due to melting I am assuming it was closer to an inch when the sun first came up.
  11. Can report snow in White House but unfortunately temp went up from 32.2 to 33.6 even with snow falling. Two different gages so I know it’s not busted. Snow is accumulating though.
  12. I drove to work from whitehouse to Portland and I’m pretty sure the area right in the middle of my commute probably got an inch to an inch and a half of snow. When I was driving home around 11:30 it looked like everything was covered. I’ll be interested to see reports from there because unfortunately it will probably be melted by 3:30 when I’m driving back through on Tuesday. Portland probably got a half inch and White House maybe 0.10 - 0.20. The sweet spot was right in the middle of these areas though. Very hard to tell at night though.
  13. Looks like they added more snow to the west when compared to the morning update. If the nam was even close to correct this winter I’d be counting snow in feet by now. Reality has been just under an inch of snow for the season though.
  14. Middle Tennessee is getting the shaft so far this winter. All the good snow has been east and that trend looks to continue. EDIT: for the Nashville north area anyways.
  15. Yes I was in White House. Got 12 inches from that storm but the night before they were calling for 6 plus with localized areas of 8 or more. In other words it was very clear there was good possibility for a big snow. I believe the 2003 storm was calling for an inch maybe two in Nashville. Anyways I don’t want to clutter the thread up with this but hopefully someone in Tennessee gets a surprise out of this one coming up.
  16. The latest nam12k run seems to suggest up here on the highland rim we could see some accumulating snow. Although some of the heaviest bands seem to be when temps are still above freezing. I always wonder if it’s still possible to get a surprise snow like the 2003 storm that dropped 7 inches on Nashville? I know the models are much better now so maybe not. I was not living here until 2006 but have never had a huge over achiever like the 2003 storm. It seems like overachievers are more likely in the elevated areas of eastern Tennessee.
  17. Man, it seems the last few years this has happened a lot. Models showing a good snow run after run 7-5 days out and then 3-4 days out it loses it all. I’m usually good at not even worrying about getting snow till January since it’s so often the case in middle Tennessee. This one though I was letting myself get excited due to the fact it’s been 10 years since my area got a real snow in December and the law of averages says Were due. Hopefully a miracle will happen and things will trend back in our favor even though the chance is slim.
  18. Nam came in a little better for northern Middle Tennessee.
  19. From last night in White House. Ended up with one and half inches.
  20. Me too! The look on the models for the second half of February is much better then what was about to hit last year during this time.
  21. It started snowing at 4:30 and heavy at times but the temp is only 34 so no accumulation. I'm right on the edge of the winter weather advisory so it'll be a close call on weather I get any accumulation tonight. Either way just seeing heavy snow fall from the sky is a huge victory this time of year.
  22. Here's the latest discussion for northern middle Tennessee. Edit: No discussion but rather a winter weather advisory. I'm rooting for all the eastern Tennessee people as I know you've been shafted pretty good this year. Good luck!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
