  1. French doctors saying they have evidence of a case there from late December. Adds another log on the fire for those who believe this thing was already very widespread before any mitigation steps were taken (like me). Case coount numbers are totally useless and this also calls the death stats into question even more too.
  2. Were they tested with some of the tests Hogan rushed out to buy from South Korea? I have a feeling he is sitting on the tests now because (1) they are not needed, and (2) they are not reliable. Another boondoggle like the ventilators and field hospitals. Hopefully these findings calm the "we might not have immunity" crowd.
  3. It would seem to me that the IFR is higher among 10,000 NY residents than it is among 10,000 CA residents, for example. There has to be an explanation for that. If you take a random slice of people, the IFR can look wildly different. Iran says their IFR is near 0.1% for some cohorts, but that's probably because they have a very young population, 8 years younger than the US and 15(!) years younger than Italy. Explains some of that situation.
  4. That’s different than what I said, and I wouldn’t be so sure about that. My two cents.
  5. LOL no, it’s not. People read 1% IFR and readily assume it kills 20 year olds at that rate. Also, NYC was an outlier in the US based on what we are seeing elsewhere. We can’t set the nationwide bar based on just them.
  6. The IFR is highly age stratified. People under 40 or perhaps 50 have a death rate much lower than those 70, and especially those with underlying conditions. We need to start looking at risk that way too.
  7. When does Hogan plan to even use those tests that he has armed soldiers guarding (LOL)? Last I heard he was still “considering his options” with them.
  8. There is a story out of Ontario of dozens of heart attack deaths that are from people too scared to seek medical care. It’s definitely happening here too and with other diseases as well.
  9. Be careful, it's a deadly weapon. It can sneak up on you really fast because it goes down smoother than any IPA and warms you nicely. Next thing you know you are two deep and swaying a little.
  10. I’ve been trying to tell them that. They think you and water don’t like moderating. LOL
  11. If you like that beer, make sure you have some Pedro Ximenez cream sherry on hand (Pedro Ximenez is the type of grape, there are different brands). Same sort of flavor profile. Liquid raisins.
  12. Very good beer, still second place to 120 for me though. That stuff is just so smooth.
  13. So what is your problem? What effects? More posts? Seems like a good thing.
  14. This forum is already heavily curated. Not sure how it could get even more toned down. It would be dead for most of the day.
  15. LOL they love moderating heavily. Slam that report button, bro.
  16. American freedoms transcend our current political parties.
  17. It’s not a coincidence that some of the loudest voices in support of lockdowns are the teachers. I’m sure the very powerful teacher unions in these blue states are putting heavy pressure on the governors to stay locked down. It’s an interesting dynamic...
  18. You still watching those daily case counts looking for trends?
  19. Your posts indicate you only want information that amplifies your views of this virus. But go ahead and pound that report button.
  20. With business production and some rationing, yes. They never forcibly shut down churches, businesses, sports, travel, etc. I think a lot of folks will just vote with their feet and move to states like Texas and Florida, a trend that is already happening. Oh, and elections have been canceled. NY canceled their primaries. More is coming in November unless we push back on it.
  21. I am way more worried about a further erosion of our rights as US citizens than I am about COVID-19. If you are comfortable living in the warm embrace of an overbearing government and have more faith in Larry Hogan to protect you than in yourself, that's your decision. I personally am not OK with drones flying overhead to check temperatures and closing off cities based on COVID test results.
  22. It's called the Interstate Commerce Clause, champ.
  23. Folks need to study history if they think it's "cute" to believe the government can be given an inch and then take a mile. Literally every totalitarian regime starts this way. We shouldn't be cheering this shit and hoping it stays this way. Take a damned civics class.
  24. You'd most likely just salute him as he drove by in his armored car and thank him for keeping you safe. There is definitely a large subset of Americans who are practically begging the government to lock them down and promise them safety.
