Beautiful with the snow showers passing through and breaks of sun.
Can't believe I made it to 50% of average annual snowfall.
This century 6th lowest snowfall.

Yeah NYC Is at a D so far. Only 1/3rd of seasonal snowfall as the best snow bands continue to miss us in all these events. F winter until today. Maybe we can make it up to C category ? (That would be 20”, similar to 2022 winter). B winter would be average (27-30” inches, won’t happen this season but that’s what a B would be)
Crazy how CPK stayed out of the heavy stuff on both storms.

This death band did save the season from being one of the worst but it was still a pitiful winter.
Well above normal temperatures (top 5 warmest) and a couple snow events won't change that.
D+ right now
Unless we get a KU storm I don't see it ranking better than a C-
Still at a D.
I do not track temps just snowfall.
Another 4.5 to get me to 20 would bring it up to a C.

Both good patterns produced. Both January and February.

3.5 inches on tabletops in madison square park, report just came from Tomer Burg on twitter. If that park can get over 3", so can Central Park.
Yeah CPK is terrible at measuring.

No. Central Park stands at 7.5" after 2.0". There could still be some minor additional accumulation when the final report is posted.
Hey Don,
It's remarkable to think that if this band was a few miles north, or CPK was in the stronger bands during the last storm, they would easily be over 10 inches. This in of itself is quite remarkable.
Still time though.

any guesses as to when or if they will get 2.5 inches more to avoid a record 2 seasons in a row below 10 inches ?
It's one of those weird records where north, south, east, west and parts of the city all got over, or well over, 10. It's just as incredible that they managed to stay under 10 with these storms.

Thanks Don. It's amazing what a small difference in area can do. CPK was only a few miles from easily passing 10.
I think JFK has a legitimate shot at ending the season with more than Logan airport.

Great thread from Tomer if you’re interested in the PA-NJ death band

It's going to be interesting to see the difference between CPK, LGA and JFK measurement wise.

If someone wants to see the radar loop go to the MA forum that band was incredible!

again, it's not a clipper lol-- clippers don't carry this kind of moisture!
It developed in the central Rockies....
It's called a clipper due to the speed of the storm not the moisture. There have been blizzards that came from clippers like 2004.

Great storm and congratulations central Jersey!
Last time there was a surprise like this was either March of 90 or 91. Forky called it.
"Why do they call it an Alberta Clipper?Alberta clippers take their name from Alberta, the province from which they appear to descend, and from clipper ships of the 19th century, one of the fastest ships of that time." -

Wow, with some decent ratios, that would get warning criteria in NYC metro suburbs.. We have some big accounts there, might have to bump up there this evening if this does actually bump north.. This was congrats DC to Philly yesterday
Up to 3 inches SW CT.
