75 and cloudy with a brisk wind. Sitting on the deck waiting on dinner to cook. Will be eating outside.

About 3 o clock today with the rain and the stiff breeze it was actually cool out enough to I wish I had a hoodie!!!

Lol.  Another day where the same areas get deluged and the usual are sunny, dry, and hot.  Noticing a lot of trees dropping leaves around here.  Everything that is not being irrigated is already burned to a crisp.  And now we head into 4 days of upper 90s.  There will be nothing left.  This is the driest I have ever seen this place, and that is saying something.

I’ve noticed premature browning/yellow of a lot of leafs here as well. Cant tell you how much I’ve missed rainy/cloudy days lol.

going to be a very disappointing fall leaf season!!!!

I don't know...the STW that's still up just doesn't seem justified for close-in DC, based on ongoing radar. I'm seeing a few new towers going up S/E of my location, in the same area that had towers building just after the lunch hour...with nothing happening going west of there to I-81...and then only down around Harrisonburg/Staunton.

It seems like a wrap for the majority of us. We just haven’t really cashed in this summer.

The widely ranging totals are to be expected in June.   The Va. State Climatoligst used to tell me. Jim, we have to go into the spring wet, otherwise it will be very easy to slip into drought. We went into the spring dry this year. Drought will be likely this summer unless we witness a complete reversal of the pattern....................  Will it be a drought disaster???

I have heard the same for our parts. Very anemic severe season so far and just lack of rain overall. Which I’m partially okay with, I like to keep the hours down on my zero turn lol.

  5. Listening to Staunton fire/rescue, rescue crews still have not reached the crash site by foot due to the terrain. Going to be a very sad and interesting story the next couple days. Another concerning thing about this is that the jet even made it in and through restricted air space. But I guess unlike 9/11 at least the F-16’s were scrambled in the right direction.

Reading all kinds of theories, but the one that seems most plausible is a sonic boom caused by a meteor entering the atmosphere, which I guess would explain the reports coming from a roughly Manassas-Burke-DC-Bowie line.

    Sonic boom….F-16 military exercise.
