  1. Been too long since we have had a set up not be limited by daytime clouds and/or convection. Today definitely doesn't feel like one of those days.
  2. 95% issuance of tornado watch in N 3/4 of Missouri and far W Central IL per SPC MD #388 for this morning cluster just exiting Kansas. Will be interesting to see how this plays out, will this wave be the main show for N IL? Are the dynamics of this system strong enough to recover quickly for the primary threat? Time will tell! Also to note, am already seeing peeks of sun here in Chicago.
  3. I-290/Loop special right now with this band its rockin here in W. Loop
  4. That was a top tier squall. https://imgur.com/a/gzNlfyt
  5. Let's keep that radar filling in with mod snow all evening
  6. As soon as the winds picked up here, the flakes are clearly getting pulverized to pixie dust
  7. Super decent sized flakes here in N Cook County w dusting on the ground already. Ready to b buried in 5" of snow
  8. Yeah I just told a friend to change their flight ORD to CLE from Thursday afternoon to Wednesday afternoon. Regardless of what happens I told them saving the headache of cancelled flights/possibly being stranded from spending christmas together with family is not worth waiting it out.
  9. Feeling pretty good with Chicago’s central position in the main swath of snow considering a 100 mi shift to the west would keep us locked in and a 100 mi shift to the east, LES would still help inflate totals.
  10. Sirens in West Loop. Got a really good view NW here from 21st story will keep updated. https://imgur.com/a/ejjHvCq
  11. I noticed that as well, have been waiting for the lake front to move thru but its almost 3:45 and we’re here at 86 degrees in the West Loop of Chicago
  12. Measured 8.4” w/ SN currently, this last band wont leave & I wont complain lol Before and after pics: https://imgur.com/a/85BanTt
  13. Definitely in the range of fire (ex. RAP bullseyes DT Chi a little more) but either way its gonna be more of a now-cast situation.
  14. HRRR/RAP killed it w last week's LES event, so feeling pretty good with what they're showing for the next 24ish hours Any insight from the pros on how LES parameters are looking?
  15. Yep, probably somewhere between 8 and 8.5" now with some heavier returns approaching... already satisfied, rest is just bonus. I think we'll end at 9-10" pre-LES
  16. Quite impressed at the rate the snow has maintained so far. Will go out and measure again in a few. Edit: 7.1” at 11:50am
  17. Now at 6.2” & pixie dust falling lol
  18. 1.3” additional in past hour, now total 5.6” at 8:15 am.
  19. Nice! I actually live in a high rise in W Loop area, just staying at my partner’s place right now. On another note, +SN coming down now
  20. I’m kinda on the border of Logan Square/Bucktown/Wicker Park (I just say Wicker Park because its the most identifiable). Near Armitage and Milwaukee. Hbu?
  21. 4.3” in Wicker Park as of 7:15am w/ SN falling
  22. Funny how large, populous cities work
  23. That came on super fast, SN in Wicker Park.
  24. NWS Chi being bullish, latest graphic showing localized 6"+ in immediate chicago area. Hoping that verifies, but feeling a healthy 3"-4" here in W. Loop.
