Usually when the north pole falls on top of us, it drives the storm track way down deep in the southeast and suppresses everything. We'd need a Miller A turning a sharp corner right as Tito's spills over the mountains. It's been 10 years since one of those. We're due.

As a kid back in the day, there was something to be said for waking up to a surprise 7" of "partly cloudy" on the driveway the next morning. Magical. Nowdays kids can't even get a snow day break with remote learning, even though most snowstorms are of the perpetually fake 1 week out variety sponsored by our pal the GFS.

Yup. Of course, nothing could go wrong forecasting snow totals for DCA using the GFS and betting money on that, right?

I'm curious when they'll initialize the new contract for February. Should be some fireworks there.

The Kalshi prediciton market model says no big snow before end of month. DCA is the respresentative obs station, so good luck to all of the betting folks with that.
