  1. I'd go with the GFS for the 7th, but let's get past this threat and revisit the models when this thing exits the N. Maritimes. 50 miles south, and you would be cashing in. When we are talking deviations of less than 100 miles, it's all just noise. The GFS nailed this storm (besides QPF), when all others were out to lunch. Gotta give credit where it is due.
  2. Going to school nowadays is as rare as snow days used to be.
  3. 31.5/31. Barnegat, NJ. Mod snow. About 1.2 inches on grass, roads just caved. Rt. 9 covered and getting slick fast. Not expecting too much, but this freeze tonight is going to make this stuff a nightmare for roads.
  4. 33.4/30, Barnegat, NJ....rain flipped to moderate snow 25 minutes ago, and grass and car tops are quickly covered. Dog is having a blast. The cutoff is going to be a super tight gradient on this one. I have low expectations for this type of setup, but someone will take a crack at 10 inches. I'm making the call 4-5 here with low ratios.
  5. I may have spoken too soon. I just went to let my German shorthair out for his morning romp, and it must have just started thumping, and collecting on the grass very quickly. Cars are covered within 10 minutes. 33/30
  6. Barnegat, NJ on the bay. 35/30 Rain/snow, flipping to to snow. Going to be a very sharp cutoff. I've seen this kind of storm play out before. Going to be tough to break 4 or 5 inches in this scenario.
  7. Played with some tautog before heading back in the 3 mile line and puting a 2 man limit of stripers together really fast. Love keeping the boat in late for these type of warm winter days. Will do the seabass and cod spiel when the boat goes back in March.
  8. Thanks. To my failing memory, this setup just doesnt work too well for us unless we thread the needle, but when it does, we put up some numbers. Appreciate the feedback.
  9. 43.8/35. Dropping like a stone. About 3 degrees in last half hour.
  10. Will take it, just interested if warm air will be a problem on immediate coast if this wraps up and in a bit. I had around 43 water temp when fishing 6 miles SE of Barnegat Inlet today.
  11. 46.2/38 on the bay in Barnegat, NJ. Wind steady at around 10 knots, gusts picking up to 15-20. 12 degree drop in 85 minutes now. Noticeably drier air coming in fast with the NW wind. Had 43.7 water temp 6 miles SE of BI today while fishing.
  12. Barnegat, NJ on the water. 47.2/41. Temp dropped 10 degrees in 75 minutes. Wind went NW at 12, and getting some gusts of clean NW air picking up. We are due for a nice 6+ event. Bird hunting should be interesting tomorrow.
  13. Do it for sure. May be the best shot for the first half of winter. They live close to the ferry terminal? Excellent places for all angles of storm approach in Cape May. Spent many days and nights chasing coastals down that way.
  14. I'm about 6 miles north of you, on barnegat bay. I'm ready for a good one for my pup and I to bird hunt tomorrow. When we cash in, it has rarely been from a setup like this, so I'm skeptical. Enjoy what we get. Stay off 72 tomorrow with all the geriatrics driving around in the snot.
  15. Isn't it a bit late in the game (less than 12 hours to onset) to be even looking at the globals?
  16. Topped out at 62.8 in barnegat today. Temperatures fluctuated with wind direction all day, sometimes coming off the water, bringing in the fog. Down to 56.1 now.
  17. No science behind my reasoning, but I have noticed this approach from them in recent years, concerning a first possible significant snow. It seems like they understand how quickly information spreads and is overhyped at times. The first big forecast of the winter sets the tone for future general public confidence maybe? I know they don't want to get burned. Darned if they do, darned if they don't.
  18. We are getting breaks of sun with the fog here, and torching at 61.8 now. Another few degrees and I'd feel like I were in florida.
  19. Hey, we have our moments down here. The last decade had some interesting patterns of Northern Ocean and Souther Monmouth getting jackpots. We are do for a replay. Really looking to get my dog on some birds in the snow. Hopefully the Barnegat Snow hole doesn't visit.
  20. Hmmm... back to Central Jersey Coast jackpot zone this year? Tom's River to ACY look to be sitting pretty.
  21. Inherently dangerous situation. These twilight tornado outbreaks are devastating, especially when they occur outside of the normal severe weather season. Very sad situation. Prayers to all.
  22. Mass extinction? What do you mean exactly? I can agree with the points on deforestation and toxic pollution, but in regard to weather... there have always been extreme weather events. Look at the population explosion over the past 100 years, especially in vulnerable environments. More people, constant media and social media....just leads to more exposure. Keeping it in perspective is important, as the sky is not falling.
  23. Had some pixie dust fall for about 1 minute while loading my boat a bit ago. No returns on radar. Barnegat NJ. Zero wind, hope the tautog bite will be on!
