  1. 4.8” storm total with the late save this evening.
  2. Hoping the second stage of this storm can send DCA above 6” and join that very limited list of January 6” snowfalls that @donsutherland1shared recently.
  3. Somehow (so far) the bands approaching from the NW are missing me to the south and east lol
  4. My forecast in the a.m. yesterday was for 6-9”. In the afternoon, it was raised to 8-12”. I’m at 3” so far. With all respect to LWX, who I think does a great job, it wasn’t a stellar call for this area.
  5. Looks like KC finished with 11.0”, so just shy of a top 10 snowstorm for them. It was their 4th largest single-day snowfall though.
  6. I’m sure you will do much better the remainder of the day than I will. Most recent runs of the NAM and HRRR really cut back on daytime accumulations for my yard. Gonna be tough to reach the low end of the 6-12” forecast here IMO.
  7. 2.7” on the ground at 22° Rates have lightened up a lot in the past few minutes and radar upstream is more showery.
  8. They probably had to load a new color scale for the 48”+ contour
  9. That was the former @TinGTown who never returned here, after he passed out in the chair in his yard and woke up covered in 4” of snow.
  10. First fine flakes reaching the ground in Falling Waters. 25/16
  11. Everything I was able to look at this evening had me thinking 6-7” for my yard. So, I’m going to hug that LWX call and trust they know way more than I do.
  12. I got mine in 2006 when I bought the house. Still going strong. Wasn’t cheap but with that kind of durability it’s been worth it. And when I have had the occasional issue, Davis has been awesome to deal with.
  13. I have a weather station mounted on the fence that surrounds my pool. It can run 2-3° higher than the Davis VP2 in the center of my yard.
  14. Jim Cantore doing Cantore things this morning. Had some lightning strikes during his on-air segment in heavy snow in KC.
  15. New products are out from LWX. Counties in the Great White North now have WS Warnings.
  16. Well there’s one high-res model that supports that HRRR run.
  17. Not often you see 12”+ from Oakland to Ocean City.
  18. August will mark 19 years for me in Wild & Wonderful after leaving Bethesda. If I recall correctly, you weren’t far behind.
  19. I joined an AOL weather chat room in 1994 when I was 31. That led to several years of NE.Weather on Usenet before discovering Wright Weather. Followed Randy et al. to Eastern around 2003. Turning 62 in March and realizing how long I’ve been following along with most all of you.
