CTP is actually calling for no rain between 4 and midnight up there so maybe they sneak it in.

I don’t think that’s a “wrong” question. It’s natural to assume anyone who has to leave “home” for whatever reason (family, work, to be in a blizzard) will return when able. Don’t think it’s nefarious to think it, at least. If your wife is from that area I would be a bit surprised if her family would think she’d leave, honestly. People don’t like change.

Rest of august starting middle next week looks way above normal - hot hot hot. Might be days and yes at or above 90 starting Thursday. September looks likely it will be a torch (AN) too.

Yea the highs haven’t been overall that bad - it’s the crazy high lows that have made it suck so much.

I don't follow scientific seasons as I believe they're pretty bunk. For instance, I fully expect fall here to not start until the 2nd week of October basically.
