  1. My lawn faces south and snow is mostly gone. Across the street they still have total snow cover
  2. An additional concern is the windy conditions that will develop. GFS forecast soundings show 65 to 75 kt winds at 950 mb by Thursday night. Given the inversion that is likely to develop with the snow pack keeping the lower levels cold, it will be difficult to mix these higher winds to the surface. However, Wind Advisory level winds (gust of 46 to 57 mph) seems plausible. The strongest winds should occur overnight, with the core of the strongest winds along the coast. This will be fine tuned as we get closer to the event
  3. And 2009 while we had snow on Christmas morning we lost much if not all of it from a warm rainy day
  4. I saw a few sporadic 4-5" amounts but not enough to shade the whole area in blue
  5. Me too. 17" in 8 hours What was so amazing was at midnight the storm was just forming...nothing was even on radar yet and then it just exploded
  6. Pretty sure that was a rain vs snow event with surface temps expected to rise into the mid and upper 30s and instead we stayed around freezing and never flipped. This storm seems more complicated with mid-level warming being a bigger issue
  7. So many components had to come together perfectly. And one fly in the ointment can screw everything up. In this case we have several flies
  8. It's going to come down to whether the nam and its warm layer is correct and we see alot of mixing esp for central and even northern nj
