Started out this way around 5:30 am. Loud thunder. Frequent lighting. Over 1.5".

There were some good cells popping around me today but they all missed where I was and missed home too. I can see some huge billowing towers just off to my southeast that are nicely backlit by the setting sun to my west. Good stuff.
edit: I can actually see them growing and expanding upward and outwards. Way cool...
Same thing from out this way. Looking east, there's a massive anvil cloud, with blue sky to the southeast. I wish I had a good camera for times like this.

Happy for the folks near the coast/city who've missed the storms the past few weeks.
I'm still seeing quite the light show and I must be at least 45 miles as the crow flys. Maybe I'm seeing another cell in union county?

84/73. Just back from an 8:00 am peach breakfast at one of the local farms. Brutal heat index.
Full sweat by 10:00 am carrying around my almost 2 year old, who ran out of steam walking up the hills.

NEXRAD indicates parts of southeast Sussex County, near Stockholm toward Vernon have received 6-8" so far. Not sure how accurate the radar is.
-
Flash flood warnings in place for Morris County. I've easily received 2" of rain over night. Thankfully I live on top of the hills. I feel bad for the people in the valleys, this might causes some issues.
Edit: NEXRAD seems to indicate a nice swath of 2-5" over northern New Jersey; I would think the rivers prone to going over will do so later today/tomorrow. The pompton, pequannock, Passaic, etc.

She delivered the goods out this way in Morris County. Rivers formed in the parking lot.

Looks great on radar, interesting the mass moving North-east on a Northwest to southeast line.
The sky has gotten noticeably at the office in Parsippany. Winds are increasing.
-
Decent cell overhead at the office in Parsippany. Looks like its running NE along 287 North.

Hopefully they got more precip up there than I did in June, which was the driest since 2007.
Well that's unfortunate...

Headed to Narrowsburg, next weekend for some river shenanigans. What are you guys thinking weather-wise? Also, how dry has it been in the upper Delaware water shed?
I'm hoping not to walk the canoes too much in the shallow spots.

My father in Montville/Towaco reports 24"+. Fox News has Montville at 27.8". Not sure if confirmed by a spotter. Dumped on in north east Morris.

I phone. Says my post size is too large. As you can tell I'm a novice with tech.

16" now. My dad to the northwest in Towaco has 18". Still snowing out this way.
-
14". Measured in 3 spots. Still getting raked. Lost power at 3:30. No much in the way of wind down here.
Wish I knew how to post pics
-
Going out to measure now. Eyeballing 12" from inside. Just lost power. Going to fire up the pot belly.
-
Measured 7" at 2:00. Absolutely ripping.

The main observation page is brutal. Every tricking storm it's the same panic. It's like group-think, reverse psychology. It takes the fun out of the storm.
With that said, heavier echoes are approaching my area from the south. White pines are loaded up already. Here we go.

Posted in the NYC thread. Game on for us.

Banter..., but the discourse in this thread is always at a higher level than the main thread. Is it a by-product of living in the rural areas?
Cheers gents; let's put up some big time totals tomorrow.

9.5" here in Chester. Pops in Montville had 8.5.
Good storm for Morris County.

I don't think I suggested pouring it over the windshield. Only the lock mechanism/handle.
Maybe it's better to wait for spring..
-
Try boiling water? Maybe some will get the lock warm enough to open.
-
I'm at 10. Definitely "feels" colder than any other night. Skies are crystal clear, should radiate well.

Excessive Rainfall and Thunderstorm Event
in New York City Metro

Back into heavy rain. Had a lull for about 3 hours; was able to get some outside work done around the house.
