  1. Also considered a Wind Advisory for the Cape and islands, as well as Cape Ann. Just did not have the confidence to issue one at this time. Thinking it is more likely wind gusts stay just under the threshold for one. The next shift will need to monitor this potential as well.
  2. Sure pretty in the woods today.
  3. Let's rock it. I could use the help.
  4. It won't have the same look. The standalone beauties will be shredded.
  5. Say goodbye to foliage and welcome to stick season!
  6. A few more from the camera trap. May have posted a few before.
  7. Hopefully it clears out quickly on Friday. Rain sucks...
  8. It can also be a very dangerous type of tree to fell. While all trees will barber pole with enough lean , you see it a lot more in locust. Since the wood is so strong it can throw the tree a great distance. If I had cut this tree from the bad side you wouldn't be seeing these pictures.
  9. Absolutely, sharp splinters. I always wear gloves when handling.
  10. He's a really good fact-based article on black locust. https://www.backyardboss.net/black-locust-firewood/
  11. Oh sure you can get it below 15%. Most of my locust is way below. You hardly notice a difference when burning however. Here's a picture of 24% tonight.
  12. Creosote Buildup Fortunately, black locust firewood has low quantities of sap and resin; therefore, it is a low creator of creosote. Compared to other typical firewood types, black locust has no more resin or sap. Black Locust does produce a small amount of sap naturally.
  13. You rarely find wood at 15%. Locust wood won't even sizzle at 24.
  14. Live locust cut today. Middle is 24% moisture. Throw her in the stove.
  15. Springfield's not a bad idea. I think ideally someplace a mile or so off the pike. Sturbridge? Makes it easy for people coming from 91 or 84. I mean Worcester is fine with me I'm close, but thinking of others.
  16. Sherborn Mass. 17 miles outside of Boston.
  17. All very good but the second one's definitely a keeper.
  18. I use a Nikon d3300 but that's my friend's trap with an old cannon. Most of the pictures I've posted are his he's a professional. It's cheap to set up except for the flashes. That's where it gets really pricey.
  19. Fisher cat from my camera trap last night.
  20. Patches in the woodyard. Not much.
