Must be a gradient in S Charlotte. I got 9 exactly where it says 6...but there's always a gradient..and there should be one between where it says 12 and 6.
2.5 inches here in S Charlotte. Not always showing snow on the radar but keeps coming down.
Anyone in Morehead City? Feel like theyre ground zero for snow---theyr'e getting absolutely blasted.
Been lurking for most of this thread. The fascinating thing is normally totals are boom or bust anywhere in NC and youre chasing model runs.
The totals have been very consistent showing snow in Charlotte for several days now--Pretty much every model was showing anywhere from 5+ inches.
I hope these CAMS are wrong and everyone cashes out. 3+ would be beautiful to see for everyone.
Good luck to all.
NWS hasn't shifted our ice totals down yet unfortunately. I think tomorrow once the cold erodes a bit, we are gonna end up with significant ice once the main line rolls through. But ill still take this.
Temp and dew point have been steady since midnight here in s charlotte. Very light pixie dust mixing in with frozen precipitation here. Not on radar. We've basically been in the dry slot up to this point with minimal precipitation.
I wonder if NAM picked up the dry slot better than HRRR and RGEM. Im in S Charlotte and we've had nothing but brief and light sleet mixed with a touch of freezing rain. Not saying the heavy stuff isnt coming later but so far no glaze.
Duke has 18K workers from 27 states and Canada ready to go. The good news is they can pull from outside the Carolinas (IN/OH,FL) where they have territory where the winter storm is not slated to be as destructive to the grid.
Alcohol overrunning.
On topic, it appears the sweet spot of the ice/QPF on several of these last runs is centering on further to the west than previous runs. Im in Charlotte.
Am I misinterpreting that?
Same with NC/SC and IN/OH. Utilities help each other out, especially after they've solidified their own system. They will start with the backbone, if affected, and move towards the remotest lines.
The surgecam 5 on the SevereStudios YT page is on and amazing. It's on the second story of a resort on the beach on Sanibel. Should be able to see the eye on it soon. I wonder if we will be able to see the stadium effect?
